VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County woman is facing battery charges and possible deportation after deputies say she threw cold coffee on a woman, her 11-month-old son and their dog during a confrontation over a leash.
The incident happened Friday morning on Quail Nest Lane, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Kelly Brisell told WESH 2 News she was walking with her son, Owen, and her 5-year-old Dalmatian, Ponce, when she encountered Nina Jaaskelainen outside a home.
Brisell said Jaaskelainen became upset that her dog was not on a leash.
“She started screaming at us,” Brisell said. “I ignored her. She kept saying it, and I said, ‘I don’t have a leash,’ and kept walking. Then she looked at Ponce, walked up and threw her coffee on him.”
Video recorded by Brisell shows the confrontation escalating, including Jaaskelainen saying her own dog had previously killed another dog.
Deputies say Jaaskelainen eventually threw coffee on Brisell and her baby.
“It was all over my clothes, and all over him,” Brisell said. “It was over his eyes, nose and temple. Thank God the coffee wasn’t hot.”
Brisell said she tried to de-escalate as the woman mocked her after the coffee was thrown.
Deputies were called, and Jaaskelainen was charged with two counts of battery.
According to the sheriff’s office, Jaaskelainen had no prior criminal history, but investigators later learned the woman, who is from Finland, was in the country illegally.
She is now subject to deportation and is being held on an ICE detainer, deputies said.

This easily could have been any self-righteous liberal. Any violation of the rules, no matter how small, is license to assault the violator.
You know the world has gone to hell when Fins start illegally migrating to the U.S. Some of my favorite hockey players are Fins.
Finns to the left....Finns to the right......
Talk about irony!
A Maryland man. Equal by law.
If she is illegal she must be deported
The mother was probably wrong to not have her dog on a leash but that illegal over reacted
Rather stupid to draw attention to herself like this. A case of normalcy bias and getting too comfortable after a while when nothing was happening.
If you think the unleashed dog is dangerous, you do not assault the dog and the family. That is how you provoke a justified dog bite.
Ping!.....................
Sounds like a HOA president.
Looks like meth...
“Volusia County Woman”
Uh, if she’s here illegally, she ain’t from Volusia County.
Maybe she swam in with the manatees...
That’s what I was thinking. Don’t harass and attack the dog owner in front of her pet like that. The dog may act to protect his owner. Dalmatians are fairly large dogs.made to move quickly and hunt down.

She was arrested for domestic violence way back in 2016 .

Iceland , eh, Back to the fjords with you ! Play the Immigrant song backwards for her.
Illegal aliens must believe that since they can break US immigration laws they can break other US laws?
Iced coffee is a NE thing that Dunkin’ Donuts introduced to Texas and the South.

I see people doing things against the actual law or creating a dangerous situation. Unless someone is going to get hurt right then, I ignore it. I’ve seen people who are spring loaded in the “go nuclear” mode and unless you’re prepared to deal with that you should steer clear. I’m old. I carry. I’m not going to let somebody hurt me. And I don’t want to kill anyone. Whatever the situation is, it will work its own way out without my input.
Wow, no kidding. Do you think the Finnish Bikini Team is holding a spot for her?
I’ll hold ‘em a place in the sauna...
