MEXICO CITY (Worthy News) – Clashes broke out in Mexico City on Sunday as thousands of mostly younger protesters rallied against “organized crime, corruption and impunity” following the assassination of a local mayor. At least 120 people were injured, authorities said.

Smoke rose near the presidential palace as part of the crowd broke through fencing around the historic compound and fought with riot police, who responded with tear gas.

Mexico City’s public-safety secretary said “100 police officers were hurt — including 40 requiring hospitalization — while around 20 civilians were also injured.”

Authorities reported 20 arrests and 20 “administrative detentions.” The administrative detentions refer to temporary custody for non-criminal infractions, such as disorderly conduct, handled through administrative penalties rather than full criminal charges.

Let the war against the cartels and government corruption begin.

Americans don’t realize that it was only about a 100 years ago that the last Mexican major revolution killed millions, with battle/conflict deaths exceeding 100s of thousands, since then.

Mexico was and is a place of war, poor America, on one border calm and clean Canada, and on the other border dirty and eternally bloody Mexico.

That shows how idiotic Mexico is and how it manages to be about a century behind the times.

I can remember something else too. In 1968, there were large student protests in Mexico City. They were a reflection of student protests in the U.S. and Europe, and the demands were both ardent and at the same time diffuse. The government’s response was to simply open fire with live ammunition, killing hundreds near the Monumento a la Revolución and around the Plaza de la República in the heart of the city. There were pictures taken afterward showing helicopters with cargo nets slung below and full of bodies lifting off from the Plaza. To this day, no one knows the number killed, nor all their names, nor even where their remains were disposed of.

Amazing how few Americans know about all this. The Mexicans were trying to “clean things up” with the 1968 Summer Olympics coming up.

Image if much of the USA had been colonized by
Spain and/or Portugal.

Thank goodness that after we created our nation we absorbed a lot of land but very few people who had been under that dark influence, at least until JFK and LBJ.
