President Donald Trump indicated Sunday that he plans to meet with New York City’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and said they’ll “work something out,” in what could be a detente for the Republican president and Democratic political star who have cast each other as political foils.
Representatives for Mamdani did not have an immediate comment Sunday night on the president’s remarks, but a spokesperson pointed to the mayor-elect’s remarks last week when he said he planned to reach out to the White House “because this is a relationship that will be critical to the success of the city.”
Trump expressed a similar sentiment on Sunday.
“We want to see everything work out well for New York,” Trump said.

If everything works out well it will show Mamdani is a role model for takeovers in other cities and the US House and Senate next year.
Even to say he got Trump to work with him due to the socialist’s sensible plans to help New Yorkers and Trump had to knuckle under.
Unless Trump —says-—he’s being nice while undercutting him.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene apologized for toxic rhetoric, but NOT honest criticism of foreign policy. And one of her most articulate moments in the Dana Bash interview, was describing how insulting the Syrian dictator display was for numerous veterans of wars fighting Al Quaeda - veterans still suffering both physically and mentally from their time on the battlefield to this day.
Madman-i has a lot more to gain from this meeting than Trump. In a way this legitimizes him with some of the more centrist crowd.
I don’t know what angle Trump is playing in this “deal”.
Syria is literally looking at signing onto the Abraham accords to normalize relations with Israel. Good thing she doesn’t think having good relations with Japan, Italy, and Germany cause of WW2 is a bad thing.
