The new moniker combines the royal family's name, Windsor, chosen by King George V in 1917, with Mountbatten, the surname of Andrew's late father, Prince Philip. The UK's former Prince Andrew may have lost his title, his house and assets granted by the Crown along with his reputation after his connection with disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light, but on Wednesday he gained something. And that something was a hyphen to his new name.
The disgraced royal will from now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and not, as was previously announced, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
The change makes the name's style conform to the double-barreled surname adopted by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, for her descendants 65 years ago. It combines the royal family's name, Windsor, chosen by King George V in 1917, with Mountbatten, the surname of the queen's late husband and Andrew's father, Prince Philip. The queen had initially decided to use Windsor alone, leading her husband to complain that he was the only man in England not allowed to give his children his name.

poor Prince Andrew
...into the Atlantic.
Randy Andy Windsor-Mountbatten. Sage advice given years ago. “Be nice to the people on the way up because you’ll meet the same people on the way down.” This info bypassed Randy Andy.
The Prince Formerly Known as Prince.
I’m not sure that applies to him. He never passed people on the way up - he was born to be Duke of York. Even still, he still has it better than people in a “comparable situation.” He just needs to stay out of any countries that might want to arrest him. I’m still not sure any country would have the guts to arrest him.
Don’t wince when you see the prince.
It will always be Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to me.
I know I’ll certainly sleep better knowing this pressing matter of state has been resolved.
Saxe-Coburg-Gotha ends with Elizabeth
Prince Philip’s proper last name passes on to Andrew... Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg
Knight of the ignoble Hyphen (2nd class).
CC
Wouldn’t it be Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha?
The Royals have always been a sketchy group...
No king for Andy.
I vote for that!
...totally agree....! was wondering why I could not fall asleep easily and when I did, just could not stay asleep....Phew....! glad that hyphen is now where it should be....nighty-nite......
RAW-Mount.
Randy Andy Windsor-Mount.
Sounds about right.
It’s legal in the UK. The age of consent there is 16.
Being a prostitute is legal.
So is being a john.
Pimping is illegal.
So how did Epstein blackmail Andrew and all the other people he collected.
That’s a question that really needs an answer...
The above assumes the sex was consensual.
Prostitutes can be sexually assaulted and be subject to sexual coercion.
Why am I thinking there’s more to this than what’s been allowed to become public.
Because this isn’t about consensual sex with prostitutes.
How can anyone be blackmailed for that anymore.
