A Mississippi State University student has been arrested after yelling antisemitic comments at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.
The arrest of 20-year old Patrick McClintock, a mechanical engineering student at MSU, came after Starkville police were “made aware of a video circulating online that depicted an individual yelling an antisemitic statement and throwing coins toward another person outside a local business”, the police department said in a statement.
According to a video of the incident which has gone viral on social media, Portnoy could be seen recording a segment of his One Bite pizza review outside Boardtown Pizza & Pints last Friday. A few moments later, someone began yelling an antisemitic comment and throwing coins towards Portnoy, who is Jewish.

Throwing coins toward another person is ASSAULT! That's what they were arrested for.
Good that Portnoy filed a complaint.
Ok, I read it.. coins were mentioned, lol.
Everyone is missing the main weird thing about this. Dave Portnoy was in Mississippi searching for good pizza? He’s lost his mind.
You beat me to it.
Whatever happened to ‘sticks and stones’?
I don’t know how many times my parents repeated this to me when someone said something mean to me on the playground and it stuck. It helped through adulthood with ‘mean girl’ coworkers as I laughed at them or ignored them. Now, throwing things is something else but what has happened to cause such a weakness in humanity that words cause ‘lethal’ disabilities??????
I authorize everybody to throw all the coins at me that they want. I prefer one ounce silver rounds. Any nationality of coin or private mint is quite welcome.
Let me get my protective gear, and then they can throw silver dollars at me.
He was arrested for throwing things at Dave, not for insulting him.
This is the kind of assault I could get behind. I am stacking silver myself.
In the UK, you get arrested for "hate speech".
He was charged with disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor.
Also, many muncipalities have had laws against “Fighting Words” for a long time.
Where they throwing the coins at their feet. That could be considered a gesture of respect, like paying homage.
Yep.
‘The weak should fear the strong’
Maybe he thought Portnoy was a fountain or wishing well.
Would he have filed a complaint if they were gold coins?
