A 79-year-old military veteran armed with a gun shot and killed a naked intruder early Friday morning during an attempted burglary in a Studio City neighborhood, police told NBC4 Investigates.
The deadly altercation unfolded near Tujunga Avenue and Sarah Street, where police responded at about 7 a.m. to a report of a shooting.
The Vietnam veteran heard screaming coming from outside a neighbor's house in the San Fernando Valley community and confronted the naked intruder, the LAPD said. Two women were inside the house, located southwest of the 170-101/134 freeway interchange, during the break-in, police said.
During the ensuing struggle, the veteran's legs were broken when he was body-slammed by the intruder, Capt. Warner Castillo told NBC4 Investigates.
"The witnesses said the suspect basically lifted up the 79-year-old and body-slammed him to the ground on the driveway, which is concrete," Castillo said.
The veteran opened fire, striking the intruder in the chest before another gunshot struck the man in the head, police said. The intruder, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.
"There was an older guy in the home and the naked guy was walking through their gate and shots were fired," a witness who asked not to be identified said. "I looked over and the naked guy was on the ground and the older guy was on the ground. And, he shot him two more times."
The veteran was hospitalized in serious condition.

Thanks for that info.
I thought I’d heard everything from my reading of true crime books but that’s a new one on me.
The list of aberrant behavior examples just sounds like woke types in the park on a summer’s day, though.
Or in Congress.

Ha. Can’t argue with that former Governor of California.
They all tend to be a little....different.
Oh, they’re honoring this vet? 😊👍
The Time Tunnel guys never seemed to have wardrobe problems.
Yes.
And in the first Time Machine (1960) Rod Taylor was able to romance Yvette Mimieux fully clothed. At least in the onscreen scenes.
As predicted, the evil Morlocks have threatened to take us over in 2025, as shown by JB Pritzker and Rep. Al Green.
This is why people should be allowed to use deadly force to protect humans and property. Stealing my car from my driveway, face your maker.
***And, why does being a vet play into this?***
Reminds me of a Willie and Joe cartoon BACK HOME by Bill Mauldin.
Willie is looking at a newspaper whose front page headline is “SOLDIER SLAPS AUNT!”
He says to his wife...”Here is an article about a triple axe murder on page seven. No GIs involved.”
Good double tap. Hope the vet recovers. Broken anything at that age is no joke.
PS Has the veteran been arrested yet? /not fully sarc - seen stranger in LA.
Probably a cast member from “Naked and Afraid.”
😂👍
Because the LA press is routinely anti-gun and anti-military; to them, a naked intruder's rights to terrify women in their home, possibly raping or murdering them or causing them psychological trauma by committing a self-defense murder would be the correct virtue.
Normal people read it and think, “thank God he had a gun and was trained how to use it in a potentially deadly situation.”
I hope the heroic veteran receives great care, lots of follow-up and rehab, and makes a full recovery.
There are a million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.
Did he blow his head off? Call the NY Post!
