If Zohran Mamdani weaponizes public funds to push his hateful agenda, the poor and minorities will suffer most
New York Post ^ | November 7, 2025 | Jonathan Greenblatt and Ari Hoffnung

Over the next four years, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will not only lead the world’s financial capital, but he’ll also have control over public funds topping $1 trillion.

This includes roughly $500 billion in operating budgets, $200 billion in capital projects and, at least in part, $300 billion in pension assets.

Mamdani could turn municipal governance into a weapon of ideology in an extraordinary, unprecedented way.

Mamdani or his appointees could pressure the boards to divest from companies linked to Israel, including major firms like Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Lockheed Martin, all long targeted by BDS activists.

A 2024 Jlens-ADL analysis of university endowment portfolios found that excluding BDS-targeted companies shrunk returns by 1.8 percentage points a year.

If we applied this same return gap to the pension assets, it would translate into an estimated $32 billion in lost value over a decade — funds the city would ultimately have to replace through higher taxpayer contributions.

This would hit the pocketbook of every single New Yorker, including working folks, immigrants, minorities and other groups Mamdani promises to support.

Harming the poorest is a keystone of the socialist agenda. it makes more people dependent, which gives them more power (and money), the ONLY thing they care about. Period. Full stop.

Maybe so, but their suffering will be for a greater good, to advance the progressive agenda and weaken America.

It may be worth $1 Trillion in 2025.

The value is probably going to decrease by 20% (or more) because the wealthy is starting to flee NYC right now.

The poor and minorities are ALWAYS the victims who pay the price for the elite’s greed and abuse of their power.

Republicans need to ignore this man. They will make their entire campaign about him. Trumps voters are not in NYC. They really do not give a shit about ZM or NYC.

Economy. Economy. Economy.

Title should be:

If Zohran Mamdani weaponizes public funds to push his hateful agenda, the poor and non-muslim minorities will suffer most

The leftist dems have admitted they are harming the people because that’s the only leverage they have. This isn’t the first time for them. It’s pretty much their Standard Operating Procedure.

NYC is handing over the keys to a woke Boy Wonder totally lacking in any understanding of business and economics ... marinated in race-hustler ideology pertaining to issues like law-enforcement and criminal justice. Unless that’s all a facade and he dramatically pivots to the middle, there’s really no possibility of him being anything other than a total flop as mayor. The ideologies that he represents regarding economics, race, crime and law enforcement are stupid and have been thoroughly discredited everywhere else they’ve been tried.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and NYC won’t be destroyed in a day. I predict that 6 months into Mamdani’s term, we’ll see glowing media reports pointing to a few manufactured metrics and proclaiming, “See! Mamdani’s critics were wrong. Businesses didn’t flee. Crime is stable. Blah Blah Blah.”

But give him a year or two, and his status as a total disaster will be obvious to all... and then the media will stop talking about Mamdani and start pretending that he doesn’t exist. Mamdani who?

Mamdani does NOT control bus fares, nor does he control children’s day care.

His promises were pure lies

NY State Dept of Transport controls the Metropolitan Transit Authority, and State Dept of Education controls education and daycare licensing, funding, etc.... When challenged throughout the campaign “how will you get the state to agree to free busses and childcare? Have you talked with the state about this?”

He simply ignored it.

Commies know now to terrorize the poor - then the near poor, then the middle class.. It’s why this commie wants to take over grocery stores.

Anyone look up the stats on how many people in the last hundred years were starved to death by commie take over filtlh? It’s in the hundred of millions. Watch your kids starve to death and you’ll give up. They know that - like plucking all the feathers off a live chicken...

The suffering will begin on the day this avowed communist, this supporter — if not promoter — of jihad is sworn in ... most likely on the terrorist handbook which, in this boy’s case, would be most appropriate.

If he really wants to start CWII he can do it by raiding the MTA pension fund. Those people will not be deprived of their pensions.
