The Senate on Thursday voted down an effort to block President Donald Trump from conducting strikes against alleged drug smugglers off the coast of Venezuela without congressional approval.
The War Powers Resolution, introduced by Democratic Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, failed to pass the upper chamber 51 to 49, just a day after Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth briefed top congressional members on the strikes — which some Democrats claimed lacked details on the operations. The resolution would have required Trump “to terminate the use of” U.S. armed forces “for hostilities within or against Venezuela,” citing a lack of congressional approval to authorize military involvement in the region.
Two Republican Senators joined Kaine’s effort, including Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky. The resolution was cosponsored by Paul and Democratic California Sen. Adam Schiff.
The vote was held on the 37th day of the government shutdown, which Kaine, Paul and Schiff all voted to prolong 14 times.

Insane, those same senators had no issues with Obama dropping bombs via drones all over the ME and Africa.
Murky is just a jerky, but Paul is simply waving his Libertarian (big L) flag.

And for what it’s worth, Democrat senator John Fetterman voted with the Republican majority. He was the only Democrat to do so.
Last year about 50,000 Americans died from fentanyl, the drug’s pre-cursor come from China. They’re mixed in Mexico and other countries, then they’re shipped into the USA from Mexico and Venezuela locations. The Chinese and Iranians are using fentanyl as a weapon of war. The US Senate is not concerned enough about preventing 50,000 US deaths! Why? Money? Power? Politicians are sick humans……
Of all the people America blows up on a regular basis its weird that congress felt that THIS was the line to draw in the sand.

Many have considered the War Powers Act unconstitutional. If so, then at some point a president should repudiate a vote and then tell the Supreme Court that they have no jurisdiction.
Why would he need approval for a Constitutional obligation?
“United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion;”
So demoncrats can vote to pass this ridiculous bill but can’t vote to open up the govt? Shame on them all!
Which bass turds in the U.S. Congress are demanding that we allow China and Venezuela to murder Americans with their drugs. We’ve got a lot of hardcore ahos in the Senate. Probably form boinking too many Abrego kid type illegal aliens.
