WATCH: Gavin Newsom’s Desperate Attempts To Avoid The Biden Question

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) appeared desperate to evade any and all questions about his support for former President Joe Biden — support that continued even after it became painfully obvious that Biden was declining rapidly.

Newsom repeatedly dodged questions on that topic during a Sunday morning appearance on “Meet the Press,” attempting to change the subject every time host Kristen Welker raised another question about the former president.

WATCH:

“You stood by him till the end, after that disastrous debate performance, even when top Democrats were calling for him to step down,” Welker began. “Did you ever have concerns, Governor, about his capacity to serve another four years?”

“I go home with the one that —” Newsom attempted to use the expression that he’d “dance with the one who brought him,” and then added, “I never had that — I just talked to the president a few hours ago. I’ve been privileged to have a relationship with the president.”

“Governor, Did you legitimately believe that he was capable of serving as president until January of 2029?” Welker tried again.

“Yeah, I think my focus was frankly situational,” Newsom replied, not really answering the question. “I was making sure Donald Trump didn’t get back into office to experience everything that we’re experiencing today, and there was no interaction that I had that suggested otherwise.”

“What do you say to Americans who feel misled by you and other top Democrats?” Welker asked.

“Misled in what respect? He decided to step down —” Newsom protested.

“About the mental acuity of President Biden, they wish you had sounded the alarm sooner to give way for a convention,” Welker continued.

If he’s defending Biden, then it just means that Biden operatives are still powerful and ascendent in the democrat party.

I’d put Biden’s “rapid decline” dating from 2005

Sleazy politicians need sleazier politicians in order to look like a change agent. The last item on Newscum’s mind is a democratic opponent with potential.
