SNAP food benefits could restart as early as Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday morning.
Two federal judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island ruled on Friday that the Trump administration must use emergency funds to pay SNAP benefits, which help feed 42 million Americans, during the government shutdown.
Judge Jack McConnell of Rhode Island also directed that these be paid out of emergency funds “as soon as possible.” Boston Judge Indira Talwani gave the administration until Monday to tell her if it will authorize at least reduced SNAP benefits for November.
The administration was originally set to cut off the aid on Nov. 1.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Bessent said that the administration would not appeal the court ruling, while adding that finding the funds to pay SNAP benefits by Wednesday “could be” done.
“There’s a process that has to be followed. So, we’ve got to figure out what the process is,” the Treasury secretary said.
On Friday, President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post that the government was exploring its options to restart SNAP.
“I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT,” the president wrote. “Therefore, I have instructed our lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP as soon as possible.”
Can Judges just order the military paid and run the country? Why have elections?
Next thing Trump needs to do is to have the airlines pay for the ATCs, no reason why we can’t privatize that and have the airlines handle it so they won’t have to worry about government shutdowns in the future.

The reality is that that by the Trump time appeals the rulings by these two hacks the shutdown will be over and Trump is not willing two just ignore Judges. Because of that food stamps will be restarted so Trump is using the conflicting rulings to make a talking point to use against the rats to pretty good effect.

Where do these two subhuman Dipstick Court Jugheads get the authority to issue food stamps to SNAPPERS and Illegal Aliens? They’ve never been elected and never have received even a single vote. They are all full of baloney.
Since one or more out of 830 odd Federal Judges not only can VETO but DO VETO every law passed by Congress and signed by the President why not let the Judges pass the laws and disband the Congress. No need for committees, investigations, votes, Senators, Congressmen or the Capitol Building. Rent it out! Fire all Congressional employees. Fire the Capitol Police.

This is a popular claim about illegals drawing SNAP.
Can you provide the SNAP eligibility rules that permit this, and where in the application process you can see this happen for 55% of recipients?

There are two weeks of money for SNAP if you only use the emergency funds. Then what.
No, the feds can’t screen as SNAP cards are loaded by the states with funds received from the federal government. The states manage who’s on SNAP as well as taking a healthy overhead cut for administration.
