Well, there are reasons they might be more circumsodct about Mamdani.
There’s a whiff of burning one’s ships in Cuomo’s recent statements about Momdani.
Though both are members of the Donkey Party, this somehow does not resemble a primary-level dispute, after which everyone is expected to once again appear as friends.
But Sliwa is still a spoiler. He’s not a bad guy, but he just doesn’t get the importance of his withdrawal.

Cuomo could not care less. If he did he would have petitioned to see if this manmani guy is a legal resident before checking to see if he can run for mayor.
He’d have questioned whether a guy with dual citizenship or just an Ugandan should or can legally run for office. The Congress is full of dual citizenship people

Prove it. Census data show about 36–38% of New Yorkers are foreign-born, and only around 15% are non-citizens. Your “40% foreign non-citizens” claim doesn’t hold up.

Some lines from Like A Rolling Stone that may apply to Cuomo. Once was the Governor of New York, pulling Dem Party strings and so high up he couldn’t ever fall.

I agree. Sliwa is a great guy, but he needs to put NYC first and get his ego out of this race. Dropping out is going to help NYC, not hurt it. He gave it his best shot and that’s not being a quitter! If Cuomo wins, I bet he’ll have a place for Sliwa in his administration. NYC can’t have an islamist mayor just because idiots are so brainwashed they do what the socialists tell them to do and have no brain cells of their own.

Sliwa, even as the most preferable candidate by far, has some skeletons in the closet. His wife comes across as a militant vegan PETA warrior...
