Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo warned Stephen A. Smith that President Donald Trump will literally “take over” New York City if Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani wins the race.
Cuomo, an independent mayoral candidate, joined Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM’s Straight Shooter with Stephen A. Smith for a Tuesday interview that will air in full on Wednesday evening.
As the days of the race wind down and Mamdani continues to lead his competition by double digits in most polling, Cuomo warned Trump will use the self-described democratic socialist to “take over” New York City with the military.
“If Mamdani wins, you are going to see Trump come in here and take over New York City. You mark my words, Stephen A.,” Cuomo said.
“What do you mean by that? What does that mean that Trump is going to take over New York City? How? How can he do that?” Smith asked.
“Forget sending the National – first they’ll send the National Guard, but the federal government controls everything."

Not necessarily. Trump wants to do it both in San Francisco and Chicago, but the Mayor’s don’t want the National Guard there. For now, he is listening to the Mayor’s, but tightening law enforcement in other ways.Less direct.

Cuomo is an idiot. He is also desparate. Telling people Trump will send troops to New York if Mamdani is elected is like telling a baby not to put peas up its nose.
Oh, but don't you know he's the better choice of the two for many Freepers on this site. The fact that he said: "American was never great" during Trump's first term, should have been enough for people to condemn him. The fact that he murdered thousands of senior citizens, plus the fact that he's been a corrupt politician for years, ever since he was Clinton's HUD Secretary and lost millions of HUD funds during his tenure. And also as Governor, wasted billions of taxpayer money on projects that repeatedly fell through, just so he could reward his big donors, should have been enough too. People here have claimed he's the better choice, when they don't even know his political record of destruction.

Yes he is and that’s why keep saying Mamdani or Cuomo, both are equally a huge threat to NYC. That’s why I don’t want Curtis Sliwa dropping out. Why should he? All he would accomplish by doing that is guaranteeing NYC gets screwed. If Sliwa stays in the possibilty will always exist that he could win and save it.
