A former paratrooper accused of murdering two civilians in the Bloody Sunday shootings in Northern Ireland 53 years ago has been found not guilty.
Soldier F - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - was accused of killing James Wray and William McKinney during disorder after a civil rights parade on 30 January 1972 in Londonderry, also known as Derry.
The veteran was also found not guilty of five attempted murders at Belfast Crown Court on Thursday.
He had denied all seven charges.
Thirteen people were shot dead by the Parachute Regiment on the day in question.

Does anyone remember Bloody Sunday and these events in 1972? Way before my time but they put a paratrooper on trial and he's been found not guilty.
It was a non-jury trial / judge led case
I remember it, I also remember the Ira bombing pubs and shopping centers in Birmingham
Moral: Never voluntarily disarm yourself.
“Does anyone remember Bloody Sunday...”
Bono remembers. ;)
I carry everywhere unless there is a metal detector then I don’t go in.
From the news story it sounds like the soldier in question was one of those who killed the Bloody Sunday victims but that the government did not do a proper investigation (since the victims were Catholics) so there was not sufficient evidence to find the soldier guilty.
It does not matter.
God will judge it all petfectly.
Most sin on earth seems to advantage the sinner be he ifentified or not....and God rectifies that.
Trust in His Mercy and Justice....perfectly done.
Heal.
Early Christmas shopping season 1991 I was in London. I learned that Sunday morning a bomb went off in the basement of a department store that I had been in the day before. I don’t recall whether it was a fire bomb or just a smoke bomb.
September 1973, a friend and I had just left Kings Cross station to tour London when a bomb exploded killing bystanders. Several months later, IRA members were caught trying to breech security at the arms storage area of RAF Alconbury.
I remember these events being reported in the news.
I also remember witnessing bombs being set off without warning, one that killed children.
I think the consensus was that PIRA used the cover of the marchers to snipe at soldiers and some soldiers started shooting back. Sh*t happens.
After the peace agreement, when terrorists were released from prison and their organisations allowed to keep their weapons, these investigations should have been dropped. But the Left never gives way.
This trial was judge led, under the system introduced by Lord Diplock, because it was felt that a jury trial could not be free from interference.
They already let all IRA members who murdered people go years ago, so why are they prosecuting this now?
