A man dressed in a Donald Trump costume was allegedly assaulted by another man during a "No Kings" rally in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
In cellphone video of the incident, the suspect, Michael Curll, kicks Jonathan Silveira from behind. He knocked him off balance and grabbed him by his neck.
According to police, Curll then ran at Silveira from behind and grabbed him around his waist and used his leg to hook around his legs, causing him to fall over.
Curll claimed that Silveira hit him with a flagpole and bruised his eye, but Silveira is denying that ever happened.
“I guess the guy didn’t like the costume. He wanted me out of there," Silveira said. “Next thing you know he had the police with him saying that I hit him and I was like ‘What are you talking about?’”
Silveira said it hurt to watch the video.
"It kind of hurt, looking at it obviously, I couldn't watch myself go down like that. It's kind of tough," Silveira said.
His girlfriend, Angela Mazariegos, recorded the incident and could be heard on video trying to stop the alleged assault.
"If you don't agree with somebody you don't have to beat them up. Just talk to him. We have two sides you have to listen," Mazariegos said.
Silveira told police that he would have to purchase a new costume due to damage sustained in the interaction.
Physically, Silveira says he is fine, but maintains that he only came to the protest to show support for Trump.
"I didn't see anything bad about it. I wasn't trying to hurt anybody I just wanted a few laughs but I got a little bit more than that, I guess" Silveira said.
Curll was arrested and booked by Swampscott police shortly after the incident.
On Monday, Curll pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and will return to court for a later hearing in December. Curll was released on his own recognizance.
Curll is facing several unrelated charges in Worcester, Dorchester and Connecticut, ranging from drug possession, assault and battery and criminal trespassing.
In the video it says he supports Trump.
In a sane society, you could go to a protest and if you had a differing opinion it would generate a discussion not an attempt on your life. /.
Bat-crap crazy leftists. Wow.
I was an enforcer on many Alinsky style protests in Chicago. We were geographically based west of the river. Because we had large numbers and those east of the river had small numbers, those east of the river frequently tried to infiltrate our large numbers and push their anti-vietnam war or other days-of-rage agenda with the implication of our large numbers.
We enforcers non-violently got rid of them...often by telling them they should go to this other location because that was where the TV cameras were.
In a sane society this guy would now be in jail or at least on a substantial bail. If you have outstanding charges including assault and battery , you should only be out on your own recognizance upon good behavior.
Not in BLUE states with cashless bail.
He chose....poorly.
Isn’t it funny that the Dems during JFK’s time loved to call the WH “Camelot”?
Well put.
Massachusetts, eh? Looks like the pro-Trump guy is going to get a minimum of 30 days.
One can simply not walk into Massachusetts.
Antifa... very dangerous... you go first.
I think it’s the anti-Trump guy.

What a weirdo. Violent leftist weirdo. Set off by a costume. SMH.
