Road Trip: Fort Knox, Kentucky

KYftknox1

Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown. It is adjacent to the United States Bullion Depository, which is used to house a large portion of the United States' official gold reserves, and with which it is often conflated.

It currently holds the Army Human Resources Center of Excellence, including the Army Human Resources Command.

It is named in honor of Henry Knox, Chief of Artillery in the American Revolutionary War and the first United States Secretary of War.

The United States Army Human Resources Command is a command of the United States Army established in 2003 from the merger of the United States Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM) in Alexandria, Virginia and the United States Army Reserve Personnel Command (AR-PERSCOM).

HRC is a direct reporting unit (DRU) supervised by the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel (DCS), G-1, focused on improving the career management potential of Army Soldiers.[1][2] From basic training through retirement, Regular Army and United States Army Reserve Soldiers have one agency to assist in career management. HRC was a field operating agency of the DCS, G-1 prior to December 2017.

KYftknox5

HRC is located on Fort Knox, Kentucky, and includes 40 operational elements around the country under the leadership of the HRC commander. HRC is the functional proponent for military personnel management (except for the Judge Advocate General's Corps and the Chaplain Corps). HRC also supports the Director, United States Army National Guard, and the Chief, Army Reserve, in their management of the Selected Reserve.

The 4th Cavalry Brigade is an AC/RC unit based at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The unit is responsible for training selected United States Army Reserve & National Guard units that are based East of the Mississippi River. The brigade was originally formed as an element of the 2nd Cavalry Division but was inactivated after the division was broken up. The unit was formerly designated as 4th Brigade, 85th Division. The brigade is a subordinate unit of the 1st Army.

Yes, thank you, it’s been very pleasant, and I think we’ve seen the last of our 90 degree days for the year. I’m hoping!

And hoping you have a terrific week!

I hope you’re done with the 90s too! Been a loooooong summer for y’all. It was long enough here.
Can’t say I’m ready for lows in the 30s like last night. Supposed to moderate for a while now.

Howdy, luvie.
Did it get as toasty as they said it would or was it a typo?

Pretty nice here with mid 70s. Cooling off quickly, though, since the sun set.

Hey there, radu!

Absolutely not a typo. It officially got up to 92. Tomorrow’s high? Predicted to be 72. I say, BRING IT!! LOL! Right now it’s about 75.

Sounds like it was great there. Your 30s last night was a bit over the top, though. 🥶

A very pleasant good Tuesday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Lauren for this morning's thread.

Our ISP is doing server maintenance this morning so wanted to share these pics from Gizmo's trip to the vet.

This is him hanging out with his BFF Ringo:

We had fun at the lake yesterday.

Next up later today, Chisolm Trail Park.

How's everyone doing this morning?

Ugh! Sorry to hear y’all baked again today. At least it was just the one day ...... unless they changed the forecast.

It was 75 when I took Big’Un to the vet this afternoon with no wind. Very pleasant. It’s 52 now and not SUPPOSED to get as cold as last night but we’ll see.
It was 38 when I went to bed and probably dropped another couple of degrees before the sun came up. A friend who doesn’t live all that far north of here said he had 31 on his thermometer this morning when he got up! He gets up around 5 or 6 o’clock.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Gizmo does enjoy seeing his BFF, Ringo. A fun day all around for him yesterday.

Yeah, it was already pretty warm when I woke up and just kept getting hotter. So far, the forecast is the same, mid-70s for a high tomorrow. I don’t know why it always gets so warm right before a cool front comes in. It seems to be the pattern.

Dang! That was pretty chilly. I hope it doesn’t continue to get down that low or your winter might not be pleasant. Seems like y’all are supposed to be cold and wet because of the lovely la niña, while we’re supposed to be warmer and dryer. Phooey! LOL!
