Sounds like the Kellogg plan that both sides have rejected several times

Gosh, why can’t we all just get along?

I love Trump, but I wish he’d just stop talking about Ukraine if he can’t think up something more substantial to say. He understands how to make an impact, and this effort feels phoned in.

Where we were a couple of months ago.

Stop fighting.

Keep what you won.

No security guarantees except those provided by Moscow and Ukraine.

Same old self serving plan DC is pushing whole pretending to be third party humanitarians only wanting peace.

Freeze the lines in place, then the DC/London axis floods in NATO “peacekeepers” to embed in every Uke position, starts “No-Fly” zone patrols, and sends in every weapon they can find.
Then when they are completely interwoven with NATO and it’s impossible to strike them without killing NATO soldiers, the Ukes and their SBU will launch terrorist bombings, assassinations etc.

And of course, the cease fire will not offer anything to the Russians, no return of their stolen currency and gold, no turning on SWIFT, no end of sanctions, no repair of the Nordstream we blew up, no resumption of airlines.

Just our plaintive selfish whining, disguised as humanitarian concern.

The Russians need to push for a full withdrawal of sanctions and full diplomatic normalization to be a formal part of the agreement. Plus a guarantee of no NATO troops on Ukrainian soil.

If Russia has what it needs to feel like the threat has been removed, I believe that a settlement can be had.

Some periphery behind the headlines:

1) There was no huge welcoming committee for Zelensky at the airport. They faked it. They had Zelensky staff at the bottom of the plane stairs for him to greet and shake hands with. One was the plane’s pilot.

2) Zelensky had a pre-meeting with Raytheon executives before meeting Trump. They build Tomahawks. Who advises this guy? How could he not know how presumptuous this was?

3) Trump is retreating to the sanctuary of America First and make a deal. There is considerable indication as well that he opposes outright theft of the frozen Russian assets.

Simply foolish for Trump to call for a meaningless ceasefire without a settlement plan.

He's already done this repeatedly to no effect, so why does he think it will make a difference this time?

There is no scenario where Russia is accepting a freeze of the conflict or a NATO presence in what is left of Ukraine.

It's past time to remove Kellogg from the equation.

Lines as they now exist is the best Ukraine can hope for.

“He’s already done this repeatedly to no effect, so why does he think it will make a difference this time?”

Yep. I called it. Uke nationalists hate President Trump again. You all got Ernies when he said we’d consider selling Tomahawks. Thought it was finally gonna happen...

I don't "hate Trump." I do, however, have eyes and a memory.

I recall Trump saying he would end the war on day one. Even acknowledging Trump's love of hyperbole, how has that worked out?

There's also a persistent pattern: every time Trump seems to be about to put real pressure on Putin, he talks to Putin, Putin blows smoke up his butt, and Trump backs down.

Trump keeps talking about a ceasefire. Why would either party accept that? The Russians think they can win a war of attrition, and for the Ukrainians a ceasefire just locks in Russian gains, freezes the conflict and does nothing to ensure their future security.

Sure you are. The Trump haters keep harping on that.

LOL It’s not “hatred” to point out the facts.
