Former Rep. John Ashbrook told FNC's "Outnumbered" that the Democratic candidate for governor in New Jersey, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, is acting like someone who expected to be winning but is not:
JOHN ASHBROOK: It is so ridiculous, too. I’m not from New Jersey, but I have worked statewide campaigns for 20 years. I can tell you this has the telltale signs of a Democrat in trouble. She didn’t think she was in trouble. She is running a terrible race, and I talked to somebody with Ciattarelli’s campaign and they see trendlines moving in the positive direction. You know New Jersey has been fool’s gold for statewide for a very long time, at least since Chris Christie was governor.
A very difficult state for Republicans to win, but he is running a very good race. That is why the trendlines are good for him. I think he is down outside of the margin of error. Maybe we have the poll. But to be honest, there is a real opportunity, and I don’t think anybody saw that coming, but maybe Sherrill sees it today.
KAYLEIGH MCENANY: It's a four-point race in RealClearPolitics, and by way of example, the polls were off last time Sherrill ran—five points in the Democratic direction.
MOLLIE HEMINGWAY, THE FEDERALIST: There are states—New Jersey—and both are supposed to be pretty reliably blue. And he was, for a long time, polling double digits down, but now it’s so close. I agree, this seems like something you say when desperate and when you figure out this might be your only line of attack. But it will be interesting to watch.

I hate to say it but I don’t see her losing.
If Ciattarelli does win, with grass roots and Scott Presler’s GOYAAKOD proven methods of getting out the vote, it will be a very good fall election for Pubbies everywhere.
Sadly, split screen TV with hysterically ecstatic socialists cheering Mamdani and her.
John Ashbrook died in 1982. So what am I missing?
How about trying to speak English?.......Sheesh!

Four years ago the 3 final NJ polls showed Murphy ahead of Ciattarelli by 11%, 9% and 9%. He won by 3.2%
When the votes are counted the democrats always win.
Murphy was very unpopular in NJ and I mean very unpopular. He still managed to win.
Sherill is fairly popular and a woman. I can’t stand her but she does have a lot of support, More than Murphy it seems. I see lots of Sherill signs in Hunterdon and Warren which are very red parts of NJ. I don’t remember seeing much Murphy signage there in the past. He was persona non grata in those counties.
I hope I am wrong.
I had a “ discussion” last eeek with a Sherrill supporter. He told me his two kids were both at the naval academy.
I asked if he didn’t have a problem with her getting punished for breaking the academy honor code.
He called me a MAGA idiot and walked away.
It’s an acronym of letters from the Harry Bosch police/Detective book series. Harry used to tell his newer co workers that you got results from getting off your *ss and knocking on doors. Presler believes that too.
Sounds hopeless for Ciattarelli. After hearing from you, I realize now he has absolutely no chance to win because Sherill has some signs in a red area. Oh, and she’s a woman. Women never lose elections. You’ve convinced me not to waste money by sending it to Ciattarelli. /sarc
John Ashbrook...the same guy who ran against Nixon in the 1972 primaries?
I said this when the Sherrill “Annapolis” story broke….it was not going to be a slam dunk for one simple reason, attacking an opponent’s military record does not get much traction when your candidate has no military record at all. It is not fair and military service is not nor should be a requirement to run for office but it is a big benefit for a candidate to have that experience on their resume and it really blunts the whole “super liberal” label with a lot of voters who feel if a candidate was in the military, they can’t be that bad.
Well we all know the experts in NJ politics all live in Wichita LOL. I am just telling it like I see it and having been watching NJ elections for 40 years, I’ve seen a bit. You can believe what you want, it is a free country. I am sure you can find someone out there who’ll tell you that Jack will win by 30 points guaranteed.
Many here in NJ believe that Ciattarelli actually beat Murphy, but, alas, when the overnight ballots were counted...
She is a terrible candidate who talks like a valley girl and cannot think on her feet. Though the state is heavily liberal, Jack ran a close race during the lockdown and only lost by three despite the electoral shenanigans that the pandemic brought.
He’s running a really good race and I’m seeing an encouraging number of signs in my blue area (Burlington County/near Trenton).
The trend is Jacks friend and many people are fed up with sanctuary state bullshit and rising costs in an already heavily taxed state. Keep hope alive FRiends and fight like Trump for every possible vote.
I recommend people in NJ/VA/PA join Scott Presslers EARLY VOTE ACTION to help drive turnout if you’ve got the time and want to make a difference:
Does Ciattarelli have any signs in a blue area?
“Does Ciattarelli have any signs in a blue areas”
He definitely does. My point is when you are seeing more than a few Sherrill signs on front lawns in Readington, Lebanon, the Muskonetcong Valley, that is a bad sign. Jack’s own home county of Somerset went rat just a few years ago and it was a Republican bastion. NJ has a lot of Federal workers and it is unlikely they will be heavily supporting any Republican this year or in 26. Not that the typical 30% of Feds who vote R will vote rat, they’ll just sit on their hands and not vote. Like I said I hope I am wrong, I’ll be perfectly content if the day after the election, people can say I totally misread the electorate.
