‘Firepower’ coming for Ukraine, Hegseth says, but Tomahawks not on agenda at NATO meeting
CNN via Yahoo ^ | October 15th, 2025 | Todd Symons, CNN

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said “firepower” is coming to Ukraine through European nations’ purchases of US weapons, but whether that includes American-made Tomahawk missiles is still not clear.

“Firepower, that’s what is coming,” said Hegseth, backing up comments from NATO chief Mark Rutte as the security alliance’s defense ministers gathered in Brussels. He added that “commitments” made by European nations would soon turn into “capabilities” for Ukraine.

The weapons purchases are being made under the new Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which has already seen $2 billion pledged for military equipment for Ukraine, with more expected to be committed by NATO nations on Wednesday.

Nobody seriously believes the US would allow Tomahawks in Ukraine.

Just another BS story.

Nothing says Nobel peace prize like supporting a neo Nazi dictatorship, and ensuring the war can continue killing tens or hundreds of thousands more. But there’s money to be made!

Nobody seriously believes the US would allow Tomahawks in Ukraine.

The goal is to get Ukrainians, and Europeans to believe it.

Remember, the goal is: "to the last Ukrainian"

Once political will in Germany, France or UK is broken, their puppets in Ukraine will begin to flee, the Ukraine government collapses, and the war is lost.

Tomahawks are basically far quieter, far more accurate V-1s.

They work well against terrorists with AK-47s, but the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily.

Ukraine makes better flyers, but they are not quite as accurate as Tomahawks.

“They work well against terrorists with AK-47s, but the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily.”

Absolute nonsense.

The Tomahawk is the most sophisticated and effective tactical missile in the world.

Nobody can stop even a small swarm of them, not even the US.

Tomahawks would be a “game changer” but for all the wrong reasons. The Trump administration knows that.

You even pretended to learn about it.

Breathtaking ignorance.

Tomahawks...the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily

Lol, the same Russians who aren't able to shoot down Ukraine's modified light airplane drones is going to "easily" shoot down ground hugging Tomahawks. Okay

“Tomahawks... the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily.”

They can’t even shoot down the model plane drones that are hitting Russia’s refineries, most nights of the week.

Just last night (15 Oct), the Russian oil refinery complex Bashneft in Ufa — 1,400 km from the frontline was hit by Ukrainian drones (now burning).

The biggest oil depot in Crimea (in Feodosia) is still on fire (for the third day), after the Russian Air Force failed again to shoot down the much easier to hit Ukrainian propeller-driven drones.

The Russian Air Force only intercepts a minority of Ukrainian drones, and virtually none of the cruise missiles (e.g. Storm Shadows or SCALPs that have been fired).

Tomahawks are likely to have a near 100% hit rate for their targets.

Yay, another payment to a country

There is no US payment to Ukraine. Other countries are buying the weapons for Ukraine from the US.

The Ukrainian drones are mainly plastic. They are not easily seen by radar.

As I said: better flyers.

“oil depot in Crimea”

The furthest points in Crimea are about 150 miles apart.

The fuel for army trucks can be stored in the trucks shortly after it arrives.

Fuel can be sent in by barrels, which is probably the way Patton and Rommel got it.

Only a small percentage of the citizens of the CCCP got around by car.

The snow is coming soon to most of Russia. The demand for gas is going to drop sharply.

I don't see how Tomahawks sub-sonic speed will fool Russian air-defenses for very long. But I'm not an expert, so if you say they are great, then so be it.

According to the interwebs, Uncle Sam produces about 50-75 tomahawks a year. 2026 DoD budget calls for 56 new ones.

So after the second or maybe, third, swarm, the swarm-party is over until 2027, unless we want to give Ukraine US Navy stocks.

Seems like quite a useless gesture, especially given the provocation cost.

The harvests are pretty much in.

In rural areas, cords of wood stand ready.
