Cartels issuing bounties up to $50,000 for hits on ICE, CBP agents: DHS
ABC News ^ | October 14, 2025 | Luke Barr

There is credible intelligence that members of Mexican drug cartels have offered a "tiered" bounty system for hits against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Two weeks ago, the Justice Department charged a member of the Chicago-based Latin Kings with putting a bounty on Greg Bovino, the CBP Commander overseeing the surge operations in Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland.

Drug cartels have "disseminated a structured bounty program to incentivize violence against federal personnel," according to a press release from DHS.

The federal agency alleges cartels are offering $2,000 for intelligence gathering and doxing of agents, $5,000–$10,000 for kidnapping or non-lethal assaults on standard ICE/CBP officers and up to $50,000 for the assassination of high-ranking officials.

Gangs like the Latin Kings have also deployed "spotters" armed with firearms and radio communications to provide the real-time movements of CBP and ICE agents, according to DHS.

Can’t WE buy Milicias and HUNT THEM? Put a bounty on THEIR heads. So we are just supposed to let them kill us? How dumb are we. Get the Dept of WAR to take care of this.

If verified as true, that's a declaration of war. And wherever those cartels are hosted, the U.S. has a right to go in and destroy them.

And the new schtick among leftists is to threaten the hope that once they get back in charge that ICE agents will be prosecuted for crimes.

Since mexico is obviously run by the cartels, this is tantamount to mexico declaring war on the US.

ABC is doing their job of broadcasting and publicizing it because they think it will encourage violence.

I LOVE what you said there... IF...these reports are verificable... So much we see on the Internet turns out to be scare tactics. It wouldn’t take much imagination that many drug dealers would love to take out DEA and ATF and ICE agents. That would not be new. But posting, and living in Mexico... I must say, there are a LOT of decent, kind, Mexican people who really do want to eliminate crime in government. Let’s don’t dismiss the fact that there are some GOOD people trying their best to push back against the cartels in Mexico. I know a few.

You can bet on it.

The cartels are trying to enforce the same reign of terror that have used to intimidate the opposition and buy off politicians and police to take control of entire countries and turn them into narco states like Mexico, Venezuela and Columbia.

In the process they are exposing how they are infiltrating and buying off and corrupting US politicians and government officials.

Shame on us if we let them get away with it.

One simultaneous hit, every missile time to hit at the exact same time as the 78 others, on the 79 cartel targets throughout Mexico, Latin and South America would be totally devastating a send a real clear message to all of them.

But will the CIA allow it?

“Raise them to 100k for the head of a Mexican congressman on a pike.”

The cartel leaders are rich. It should be easy to spot them.

We’re not at war with the Mexican government and never should be.

We can block foreign citizens who are not Mexicans from sending money to Mexico.

We can work with money transfer organizations to block certain recipients and to limit the amount any one individual can send.

We might require an entity to get a six-month license to send money outside the USA.
