Moscow is hopeful that Washington will hear its message on the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Maria Zakharova stated
MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. If the United States makes the decision to supply Kiev with Tomahawk long-range missiles, it will do irreparable damage to US-Russian relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said.
"A corresponding decision by the US administration, if made, will not just send the confrontation into a downward spiral, but also do irreparable damage to Russian-US relations, which have just begun to display certain elements indicating the resumption of a bilateral dialogue," the diplomat said, commenting on US President Donald Trump’s remarks that he "sort of made a decision" regarding the Tomahawks, but provided no details.
Moscow is hopeful that Washington will hear its message on the potential supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Zakharova continued.
"We are keeping the closest eye on the situation and call for extreme restraint regarding this highly sensitive issue, which can significantly complicate efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict. We hope that Washington will hear our message," she said.
The spokeswoman went on to say that Russian President Vladimir Putin has clearly expressed Moscow’s attitude to such dangerous steps.
"Although we have significantly upgraded our missile defense shield, cruise missiles are a powerful weapon, which, in the hands of the Kiev regime, will take us to a new serious stage of escalation of the Ukrainian crisis. Certainly, this will have no effect on the battlefield," she said. "The question is not about the Tomahawks falling into the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces, it is about the fact that their use is simply impossible without the direct involvement of the US military.".
Rookies need to try a little harder.
The US and Russia had ties???
Trump is not stupid.
He will not send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, nor to NATO to supply to Ukraine.
Tomahawks are basically far quieter, far more accurate V-1s.
They work well against terrorists with AK-47s, but the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily.
Ukraine makes better flyers, but they are not quite as accurate as Tomahawks.

What US-Russian relations?
“but the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily”
Not so.
You can launch a dozen Tomahawks and have them take a dozen different routes to a target. To arrive simultaneously or staggered. If it has any fuel left it adds a thermobaric kicker to it’s 1,000lb warhead.
And it flies 100ft above the ground at 550mph, hugging the terrain.
Nobody can defend against that.
Not even the US.
You’ve got to try this one new trick to end your war! This is about the 15th “new trick” and none have made any difference.
Imagine Russia sending nuclear capable missiles to Mexico, Cuba, or New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Well, then the Russians should have nothing to fear!
Regards,
Horsecrap.
There is no forever or irreparable in this world.
I think Russia has made a mistake because they’ve revealed they can’t really threaten direct retaliation if we give the tomahawk missiles. This talk about ruining relations doesn’t sound like enough to deter the decision.
It does not take a genius geo-political strategist to see the ramifications of the U S tomahawking Russian targets.
They work well against terrorists with AK-47s, but the Russian Air Force would shoot them down easily.
You mean they are going to put up how many fighter aircraft daily to patrol the skies against this new missile threat. How many aircraft do they have? How many are operational any day of the weak as a percent? How many missiles can they down? How many missiles can they track and how far away? With the fighter radar on to detect and ‘look down and shoot down’ do they become susceptible to Ukrainian Fighters?
I have no idea, and I don’t even have anyone to ask, how many ‘Tomahawks’ are in storage. They have been building them for roughly 60 years, probably early models don’t even rely on GPS. Who knows how sneaky they can be, what low altitudes they can fly at with accurate maps, giving what radar profile.
Since the Ukrainians tend to target military industrial areas, how effective could these be against refineries, trains, roads, bridges, and other transportation targets? How about airfields and aircraft?
You dismiss so much so quickly. These are more like high explosive suicide drones, and I don’t see the Russians shooting those down in large numbers. Who knows, maybe no bid deal.
US - Russian ties were damaged with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This is just the playing out of that initial act.
A lot of our tactical cruise missile inventory is ancient.
Have we noticed the talk of the coalition of the willing and the daily talk of who is going to provide troops after there is a ceasefire . . . has disappeared?
And then there was the daily talk of bone breaking sanctions. Also disappeared.
This Tomahawk thing will probably follow suit, given that there has been no talk of Europe sending money to Raytheon to build them.
Russia knows if the US was to get really involved it’s a problem for Russia.
Why is Putin’s regime so afraid of a few missles? So weak and hardly a “Super Power.”
Have we noticed President Trump arranged a meeting between Putin and Zelensky? Then Putin “disappeared” and there has been on meeting? Obviously, warmonger Putin only want to masss murder and destroy. His armchair fan club continues to ignore the obvious facts in front of their faces and “disappear” into their day dreams. Oh, well. Fortunately for them Russia won’t be murdering their families today. 40 million Ukrainians aren’t so lucky.
“40 million Ukrainians aren’t so lucky.”
If they had dealt with Russia rather than becoming pawns of NATO they would be fine. Now they’ve lost 25% of their population and a generation of young men. The worst for them is yet to come.
