Rubio says Gaza war has hurt Israel's global support. How has that played out at the UN?

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 5 (Reuters) - The United States cannot ignore the impact the war in Gaza has had on Israel's global standing, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday, as Israel's diplomatic isolation mounts despite Washington's attempts to shield its ally.

"Whether you believe it was justified or not, right or not, you cannot ignore the impact that this has had on Israel's global standing," Rubio told CBS News' 'Face The Nation'.

He was responding to a question about remarks by President Donald Trump to Israel's Channel 12 in an interview published on Saturday: "Bibi (Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) has gone too far in Gaza and Israel has lost a lot of support in the world. Now I will return all that support."

The United States has for decades diplomatically shielded its ally Israel at the U.N. Here's how that has played out during the Gaza war:

HAS THE U.S. USED ITS U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL VETO ON GAZA?

The United States has cast six vetoes to shield Israel in the U.N. Security Council over the past two years on draft resolutions related to the war in Gaza between Israel and Palestinian militants Hamas.

The most recent veto by Washington was last month on a draft Security Council resolution that would have demanded an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and that Israel lift all restrictions on aid deliveries to the Palestinian enclave. The remaining 14 council members voted in favor, isolating the United States.

The U.S. did agree last month to a Security Council statement condemning recent strikes by Israel on Qatar's capital Doha, but the text did not mention Israel by name.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE U.N. GENERAL ASSEMBLY?

The 193-member General Assembly has adopted several resolutions on Gaza, largely after the...

I think it has just revealed the hate for Israel that has always been there.

Even their arab neighbors want Hamas exterminated. They just can’t say it.

Any and everything Israel does hurts their global “support”...they are supported by one nation- the United States...

Yeah sure Marco=- the world loved them much more when they never retaliated while they were being blown up by rockets, suicide bombers, and terrorists attacks

Hasn’t Israel always been viewed negatively at the UN? Hasn’t the US repeatedly used its veto against UN resolutions condemning Israel?

What do you expect when the UN once had a real Nazi, Kurt Waldheim, as Secretary-General?

There has always been hatred for Israel. Nothing has changed there. They’re just more verbal.
Since I’m a sort of mystic I suggest this is spiritual and hitting the demons hard. They know their days are short and have to kill Israel and all believers in Jesus.

Funny how the discussion is about Israel's "declining global support" and not "middle east opposition" or some such phrasing anymore.

There are two undeniable facts on the ground. Arab nations have largely abandoned Hamas and are taking no actions to oppose Israel other than words. That speaks louder than any diplomat in the EU or UN.

Israel has the green light to wipe out Hamas. No one in the Middle East or Europe wants to say it out of pride or losing activist support.

What “global support” has Israel ever been able to count on?

No thinking, decent human would have faulted Israel for pursuing and smashing Hamas after their Oct 6 crimes against humanity.

But Netanyahu - heap of dogs**t that he is - had to go and create his own crimes against humanity. He pretends that his objective isn’t seeing Gaza/Gazans wiped out, but he’s liar, who thinks exactly like some the jaundiced psychos we see right here on FR calling annhilation of all Gazans... including women and children.

That’s tolerated here - even encouraged.

Same liar scumbag - from POLAND - who sat before our America’s congress claiming Iraq had WMDs while goading us into a Mideast disaster that cost us dearly.

Trump finally pulled the leash on him, but way too late IMO.

He’ll burn in hell, after he burns his own nation, which will likely turn on him once the madness has ebbed.

Israel is in a much worse place than it was Oct 7th, two years ago.

I suggest this is spiritual

Mankind had been in a spiritual battle since the fall. Christ and Israel are God's focal points.

Islamics own the UN. So that’s not a creditable recommendation.

I’d say letting in millions of legal and illegal Muslims all over the world is what’s hurt Israel’s standing.

Amen. It’s just manifesting to a world wide level and anyone can see Israel and believers in Jesus are the enemy. Why is that I ask the atheist or any other religion? Why?

“Rubio says Gaza war has hurt Israel’s global support.”

tis bullshit: Israel’s lack of global support is due the worldwide antisemitism and jew hatred of the global corporate propaganda media lying about Israel 24x7x365 while adulating the inhuman savages that continually work at trying to physically destroy Israel and their citizens ...

Bibi, Ben Gvir, and that Smotrich a-hole have generated more anti-Semitic sentiment than any drooling, inbred Stormfront reader could have ever hoped for.

It appears Trump has had enough of their garbage. We shall see
