The Board of Deputies of British Jews condemned comments by Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, who announced his intention to host right-wing activist Tommy Robinson in Israel later this month.
According to the Board, “Tommy Robinson is a bully representing the worst of Britain. His presence undermines the sincere efforts of those genuinely working to combat Islamic extremism and foster community cohesion.”
“The minister has proven that he is a ‘Diaspora Minister’ in name only—not in his actions. In this dark hour, he chose to ignore the views of the overwhelming majority of British Jews, who consistently and unequivocally reject Robinson and everything he represents,” the statement added.
On Friday, Chikli issued a statement saying: "In the wake of the horrific Manchester terrorist attack, Israel and the Jewish people stand firmly with our allies in the United Kingdom."
"On behalf of the State of Israel, I am proud to host British patriot Tommy Robinson, who will visit Israel in mid-October. Tommy is a courageous leader on the front line against radical Islam. At a time when Jews across Europe face rising antisemitism, it is vital to strengthen bonds with allies who refuse to be silent. He has proven himself a true friend of Israel and the Jewish people, unafraid to speak the truth and confront hate. ....

What would these “leaders” know about the thoughts of the “overwhelming majority of British Jews”. They have an office, a donor’s list, and occasionally do some damned ceremony or banquet commemorating this or that.
Tommy Robinson’s been a stand-up guy and has put his own skin in the game repeatedly. I can only hope for the chance to shake his hand when he visits.

The history of Islam is that so-called moderate Muslims are always dominated by not so moderate Muslims. The history of Muslims in 15th century Spain tells the story of 'moderate' Muslims being subordinated by 'true' Muslims and the hell that ensued. The idea that you can "foster community cohesion" with Muslims is a pipe dream. Name any country that is Muslim dominated and tell me how it treats Christians and other non-Muslims? Let me suggest you study the history of Christians in modern day Lebanon for a starter.
Muslims are primarily responsible for murdering Christians because they are not Muslims. "Foster community cohesion" with Muslims? Their Koran teaches them to murder, enslave or force non-Muslims to pay the (non-Muslim) jizya tax.
Those who believe you can "Foster community cohesion" with Muslims are willfully or ignorantly ignoring 1400 years of history and the current news headlines.
In 2025, Muslims murders 7000 Nigerian Christians and enslaved hundreds if not thousands of Christian girls. This is the Muslim idea of "Foster community cohesion".

The Board of Deputies is the only democratically elected, cross-communal, representative body in the Jewish community. It comprises over 300 deputies directly elected by the synagogues and communal organisations they represent, from congregations to youth movements, and social welfare charities to regional councils.
In addition, there are also a number of ‘Under-35 Observers’, appointed by synagogues and organisations to supplement their representation and to ensure that a new generation of communally-minded activists can contribute to our work on behalf of the community.

Looks good on paper, and if it’s what it’s cracked up to be in reality, I’d stand corrected. But I reserve skepticism, pending further research.

Many (most?) Jews in America, and, I quite suspect the UK, are leftists first and basically atheist. Less political and G-d fearing “real” (in my opinion) Jews support defending Western Civilization against islam, communism and foreign invasion.
You have to study the history of Jewry in Europe to understand how the Jewish mind has been corrupted by Marx. Bacause of centuries of persecution and religious hatred by the Church, atheistic Communism was seen as a safeguard against the Pogram. As a people, Jews could appeal to their ancient biblical history as a ‘point-in-fact’ justification for that polity. So, as a consequence, the early Zionists who began the modern state of Israel were communists. These young idealists built the Kibbutzim in the Negev with heroic devotion to their people. They were separated from the affections of true Torah life, but clung passionately to it as an ideal. And so even today, in Israel, as in London, the majorit, bereft of Faith, triangulate by consensus and , their ongoing surrender to their mortal enemies in Mecca. Do you remember the end of the movie “Sophies Choice”? One of her Jewish friends who, like her, had to service the Nazi soldiers as prostitutes to escape the gas chambers had become so warped by this accommodation that she jumped into the truck hauling off German prisoners after the Americans took over. She represents the quintessential Leftist Jes we see today screaming “Free Palestine” in the streets. They are willfully ignorant of what is surely coming, and they dont want to see it. There was a Jew from the Galil; an esteemed rabbi, who warned us of what is now happening to us. He said,”and they knew not, until the flood came and took them all away.”
I have a slightly different take. Jews needed to protect themselves from Pogroms, and so regularly cozied up to whoever was in charge for protection. Even to the point of cozying up to the Moors in Spain, which eventually got them caught up in The Spanish Inquisition when Ferdinand and Isabella consolidated Christian rule.
This cozying up to government power as a reflex eventually was transferred to the ultimate of government power: Communism. See Russia and the Revolution. See Roosevelt for a lighter version.
Leftism among cultural Jews now is their religion. I have been to Reform Synagogues in which Haman was replaced by “Bush” (2000). My niece denounced the existence of G-d from the bimah at her Bat Mitzvah to polite applause from the Reform congregation.
My Jewish neighbor married to a shiksa practices no Judaism whatsoever. But he does go to every BLM protest, and has no concept or concern over the fact that muslims want to murder him and his children.
So we have a substantial rift in Judaism, largely fractured along the line of (Communism + Atheism) versus (Freedm + Torah).
It makes for some an easy target on the right for that first group.
