PLANT CITY, Fla. - Martin Garcia, a longtime resident, husband and father from Plant City, has been deported to Mexico, leaving behind a devastated family, while raising questions among advocates about how immigration laws are being enforced.

Garcia, who had lived and worked in the U.S. for decades, was detained by ICE last week while on his way to work.

Just days later, he was flown back to Mexico, despite his family’s insistence that he had applied for asylum and held valid work documents.

Now, his loved ones are searching for answers and hoping someday he may be able to return.

I may have stolen your 2005 Mercedes Benz SUV 20 years ago, but I've taken excellent care of it, taught my kids to drive in it, took some groceries to the food bank in it, and even jump started a little old lady's Buick on the side of the road last week.

So of course you can't have it back, it belongs to me now

“Garcia, who had lived and worked in the U.S. for decades”

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, it is often said.

And even his bogus claim for asylum couldn’t save him. Oh, no!

so at no point in 20 years (or longer) the Plant City dad and softball coach and blue-collar worker had, say, 2-3 free hours to go to the relevant office(s) and BECOME A CITIZEN????

The article sure danced around this question: Was Garcia currently in the United States legally or illegally?

Deep down in the article it said that Garcia last entered the country illegally. So out he goes.

Come on, Fox13. I expect this kind of cutesy, emotional reporting from MSNBC. But not from you guys.

I get the impression they’re trying to recreate the “Maryland Father” saga.

“Thalia said, despite her father holding a work permit, a Social Security card, and a temporary driver’s license, they were told none of that mattered when ICE took him into custody.”

Tell us more about this social security card and how he got it. Did he vote?

¡Ay Caramba! He can buy Jeb! surplus guac bowls and sell them in Mexico City to the tourists. For big money!

Can you believe that Jeb Bush dominated the Republican Presidential field in 2015 until Trump stepped in? The Bush fund raising machine had raised 100 million dollars for Jeb's prime PAC.

Donald Trump ended the Deep State Quackery of the Bush family.

Ahhh. Mr. 3%, good times. I would’ve voted 3rd party if he won.

Since he’s here illegally, he’s a criminal. He had all those decades living here taking advantage of the taxpayer benefits and refused to make himself legal. He slipped over the border when border patrol was lax. Time to pay the piper, Mister. Good bye and s’long. Don’t let the border door slap your behind on the way out.

“I don’t get how the family claims he has papers etc, yet he had a deportation order.”

His family’s claims are a hot mess of lies, truths, myths and confusions. Truth is that this illegal alien was an easy score to pick off. ICE should be deporting more criminals, but Blue states sanctuary policies turn these criminals loose, instead of notifying ICE when they are arrested in traffic stops, for DUI, for much worse crimes. Same states do not notify ICE when serious illegal alien criminals finish jail and prison sentences. These criminals slink back into the barrios where ICE has to spend much more resources to round them up for deportations.

Los Angeles has at least 50,000-100,000 seriously criminal illegal aliens who were arrested, tried, did time, were then released with the authorities never notifying ICE for deportation. This has been going on for a few decades. Nationwide these are up to 500,000. (my guess)
