The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, housed within the College of Liberal Arts [at the University of Texas-Austin], offers three distinct academic degrees. One is a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. They also offer both a minor and a certificate in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Sexualities (LGBTQ) Studies.
Per the syllabus, this class “explores concepts of gender and sexuality, race, class, religion, and nation; as well as skills in theory, history, and research methods relevant to LGBTQ studies.”
Following this first classroom session, Richey assigned students readings such as “Queer Theory Revisited,” “Aye, and Gomorrah…,” “Sex in Public,” “Is the Rectum a Grave?” and “Unhappy Queers,” for the first month.
In future sessions, Richey assigned students readings such as “A Theory of Black Gay Life,” “Feminist, Queer, Crip,” “Homonationalism in Queer Times,” and “Trans, Feminism: Or, Reading Like a Depressed Transsexual.”

okay, so maybe I have been living under a rock all these years, but.....what kind of employment would the holders of these degrees obtain....? If I owned a business and an applicant told me that she had a degree in lesbian studies, would I even consider hiring her...??

Leaving with tuition debt and "a certificate in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Sexualities (LGBTQ) Studies" just makes me laugh. As a nation tries to re-industrialize, those certificates will be worthless.
State capitals are often leftist cesspools, even it red states. Anywhere there’s a chance for govt intervention, even at the state level.

Democratic and Republican Trump supporters need to consider making state public education officers popularly electable, school policies respecting first amendment protections.
Also facilitate parent petition for recall of education bureaucrats and teachers.
Repealing 16th Amendment (direct taxes) which is continually being abused by Congress imo, would be a help too.
