War stinks.

Especially if your own side is firing on you. That said this happened during WWII too so it’s a Russian tradition.

Was it one of those prison units?
If so, appears standard Russian doctrine?

Both sides have been lying their asses off since this whole time. Truth is always the first casualty

Perhaps not.
If my history is correct, Russians would use penal units to wear down German defenses.
Russia might just be doing the same.

Ukrainian propaganda.
Sure thing. If it's a negative story that makes the Russians look bad, it must be Ukrainian propaganda.
Those million+ Russian casualties? Ukrainian propaganda.
Got it.

If the Russians are killing their own troops... there is no justification for sending the Ukrainians $Billions more to do the same thing.
To: Engraved-on-His-hands
Ruskies did the same in WW2.

But, it's only a casualty if you believe that your version of the truth is the casualty.

I guess it’s easier to shoot your own troops; you know where they are.

Good strategy.
Would the Russians be killing themselves if the Ukrainians didn't resist the invasion?
Methinks that those being killed by their own soldiers, are those that are not willing to die in the fight and would prefer to surrende. What's your alternate belief?

Reminds me of “The Big Red One”. Lee Marvin. A French officer would not fire on Americans. The General shot him. The other troops shot the general and an English-speaking French officer got on the loud speaker to tell his people to give up snd welcome the Americans. I do believe many are confronted with this dilemma in war zones. Anyone remember fragging?
Dr. Zhivago. Replacements met up with the quitters and were told not to go there. Classic.

Well I believe there IS historical (Russian) precedent for this...

Words can’t describe how little I care about these two nations or their war. I hate the fact that it has cost us billions of dollars and is affecting our relationships with other nations that matter far more to us than either Russia or Ukraine (namely, China and India).
