Thomas Lozano was an undergraduate student at Sacramento State in the early 2000s and felt alone. He was a Native American student, a citizen of the Enterprise Rancheria Estom Yumeka Maidu. As Lozano walked the campus, he could not see many of his peers who looked like him. He said he felt isolated.

As tribal leaders spoke at the grand opening, they recalled the mistreatment California had inflicted on their ancestors
If the evil colonizers had not come to California there would be no University of California or California State University system. Maybe they could take their billions in casino revenue and build their own university

He said he felt isolated. Probably more than 50% of college kids feel that. So what?

Do I get the privilege of only seeing people that look like me, or is bringing that up a problem?

‘Maybe they could take their billions in casino revenue and build their own university’
If they had any common sense, that’s exactly what they would do.

...he could not see many of his peers who looked like him. He said he felt isolated.Doing some research before attending might have been advised to avoid that situation if it was so desirable.
Obviously said research was never conducted.
Ask some black people going into college. Historically Black Colleges are a big draw for them.
Perhaps the native Americans need to build some American Indian colleges.
Oh...wait...Tribal Colleges and Universities.
Never mind. It's simply narrative reporting and not ACTUAL reporting.

"People like me"
The last thing I want is to be surrounded by other white, septuagenarian males.
Now if I could be surrounded by hot 30-40 year old blonde females swooning over me...well, I wouldn't be objecting. I might get a rolling pin upside the head, though.
To: artichokegrower
OMG, what dreck!
Pobresito, there is no one there who looks like him.
Please…

Most people don’t go to college just to find a reflection of their high school or neighborhood. At least that’s not how I approached it at all. I was glad to meet new folks from very different backgrounds.

A Quick Look at Sacramento State self-published demographics shows it is
37% Hispanic Latino
23% White
21% Asian
7% Black
6% Two or more races
3% International
2% unknown
1% pacific Islander
1% American Indian
Hard to imagine he could’t find someone “who looked like him.”

"...he could not see many of his peers who looked like him." It goes without saying that he could not possibly have anything in common with anyone who doesn't look like him.
To: Fido969
Nobody looks like me. I don’t ever feel isolated.

Now you've done it you cisnormal, heteronormative, patriarchal chauvinist!
Home Economics' basics of old, like cooking or sewing, aren't part of the curriculum.
A bottle of purple or pink hair dye would be the correct item to use.
Vibrant colors are what dangerous animals have.
