War Department Secretary Pete Hegseth has ended Pentagon participation in an advisory group focused on women in the military.
Department press secretary Kingsley Wilson posted about the decision on Tuesday, writing, "Secretary Hegseth has decided to terminate the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services."
Wilson said Hegseth has decided the advisory work of the DACOWITS panel did not fit into what he, or the country, needs. "The committee is focused on advancing a divisive feminist agenda that hurts combat readiness."
She said that is the opposite of what Hegseth wants from an organization tasked with protecting the nation. "Secretary Hegseth has focused on advancing uniform, sex-neutral standards across the department."
Hegseth faced sharp criticism during confirmation hearings regarding his thoughts and comments about women in the military. Hegseth clarified that while he had concerns about women in combat roles, he was very supportive of women in general service in the armed forces.
DACOWITS, according to a Pentagon information page, is composed of "civilian women and men appointed by the Secretary of War to provide advice and recommendations on matters and policies relating to the recruitment, retention, employment, integration, well-being, and treatment of women in the Armed Forces of the United States."
An Aug. 15 report from the Pentagon showed a notable increase in the number of women enlisting to serve in the military compared to the previous administration under former President Joe Biden.
Wilson said, "Leadership matters, and women are excited to serve under the strong leadership of Secretary Hegseth and President [Donald] Trump."
She pointed to an approximate 30% surge in women enlisting since the Trump administration took office in January.

Morale is UP...
About time! Rip the woke agenda completely out of the government. Don’t leave a single stone standing.
As a woman vet I say good. I never needed no steenkin advisory board. I did my job and people respected me. For my position, contribution and rank, those who outranked and those who outranked me.

Yep. More evidence that SecWar Hegseth is on the right track.
I have no problem with recognizing women who served. I have a major problem with an advisory panel to focus on it.
Exactly. One of the greatest aspects of the military was that it was largely a meritocratic organization, and if you were good at your job, people recognized and respected you for it.
And that is one of the most terrible and corrosive things about any of this DEI Affirmative Action BS is that it not only removes the meritocratic aspect of it, but it tars good women who made it on their skills and hard work by painting them with the stain of Affirmative Action/DEI whether they sought or used it at all.
Dept of Defense/Dept of War
In my opinion there should be no females other than admin/support.
Flame away !
What did he axe them?

I agree to a point. Infantry, jobs that require strength of men that women can never achieve, no brained
There are certain positions that women have been well suited for in the military, even in combat zones. Medical and intelligence for two. This existed long before DEI
To refrain from communicating in Ebonics, as the US Military communicates in English.
I agree to a point.
It has never been accepted (until now) in Western civilization for women to be in combat roles/zones.
“It has never been accepted (until now) in Western civilization for women to be in combat roles/zones”
It is a push and Hegseth is fixing that.
That push is the main problem.
Our leaders would dread the "visits" by these harridans, all of whom had no military experience at all.
While I commanded an artillery battalion, a brother battalion commander called me, telling me that DACOWITS was coming to his battalion the next day and he was worried that they would put out one of the inevitable "reports" telling the Marine Corps that they needed women in artillery and skylining him and his battalion.
I thought about it and told him to give the ladies flak jackets, helmets and earplugs and put them on a 7 1/2 ton M 198 155mm howitzer and put them to work emplacing, preparing, loading and firing the gun instead of their usual "observation" and careful protection from hard work and dirt.
They didn't last the first half hour of hard labor ( the projectiles weigh 96 pounds) and my friend heard nothing more from them.
Colorblind AND genderblind?
Whoa
DACOWITS? Is that a step-up, down, or half-way berween DIMWITS and HALFWITS?
Excellent move, long overdue. DACOWITS has done untold damage to our armed forces for decades through their relentless pursuit of “Feminism Uber Alles.”
Scrap it and move forward.
