The New York mayoral candidate hit at Disney for "cowardice" in the face of the Trump administration's moves to pressure the company over the late-night host.
NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani will not be participating in a Town Hall event with WABC this week due to the parent company’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel‘s late-night show.
“We cannot understand this moment of authoritarianism as solely coming from the White House, when it is also characterized by the cowardice of those in response to it — the cowardice that we have seen typified whether by the parent company of ABC or by so-called leaders like Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams looking to the White House for their path to their future ambition. I am running to be the next mayor of the city to finally make clear what it looks like to stand up, not just for this city, but also for the Constitution,” Mamdani said at an event in New York Monday.
Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City major, was meant to participate in the town hall with the ABC News affiliate on Sept. 25. He announced his withdrawal at Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms State Park on Roosevelt Island, while citing that he was withdrawing in response to the “corporate leaders who have put their bottom line ahead of their responsibility in upholding the freedom of the press.”
His statements came after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended last Wednesday after Kimmel made some comments about the alleged murderer of Charlie Kirk. Disney made the ultimate decision to suspend Kimmel, after his show had been pre-empted by Nexstar, one of the biggest owners of local TV stations in the country and after FCC chair Brendan Carr had appear to threaten Kimmell and ABC affiliate licenses over Kimmel’s comments.
“We have to understand who suffers in these moments. It’s not just a question of Jimmy Kimmel himself, it’s also a question of the engineers, the writers, the musicians who are feeling this attack on the very city they call home. The message that it sends to each and every American across this country is a message that the First Amendment is no longer a right that can be counted on, but rather that it is the government which will determine what should and should not be discussed, what can and cannot be spoken,” Mamdani adde

Bull. He is afraid he will have to answer random questions.
This ^^^^^
So the ever smiling, cutesy and cuddly Communist is going to go after all his detractors when he gets in power.
Perfect example of the maxim that the people vote communism in, but have to shoot their way out of it.
This is a warning from Mamdani to anyone who doesn’t get on his victory bandwagon.
But wait… Big Brother good.
Don’t the major networks have headquarters or major studios in NYC?
The ones who dare to criticize Mamdani may have major problems there when he gets it. Code violations. Rates for utilities suddenly raised. Property taxes higher. Refusal for permits for celebrations and parades for their staff and camera crews.
BINGO!
Communist poop stain does what?
That’s his hill to die on? ha ha, talk to ABC dorkdami.
I googled how many companies have left New York.
“158 companies
How many companies are leaving new york
A total of 158 companies have left New York, managing almost a trillion dollars in assets. This exodus is attributed to various factors, including high taxes, high cost of living, and regulatory burdens. The companies have relocated to states like Florida, Texas, and Tennessee, which offer more affordable business environments.”
Commies don’t do town halls and take questions, do you think Putin or Xi do town halls with voters and opponents?
Coward.
Why does everyone think that him being a Communist is the bad part? he is a frickin Muslim SOB
It is a well-know fact that the people who complain about authoritarianism the most, are those who don’t want people to notice that they are the ones imposing or seeking to impose authoritarianism on the people being spoken to.
The authoritarians hope that people won’t notice that what they do is what they accuse others of doing.
The people who talk most about democracy are the most undemocratic.
When people live in a democracy they don’t have to be told about it, since they can feel it as they live it.
Mamdani is pulling the wool over people’s eyes, and there are lots of them who aren’t smart enough to notice.
But, I want him to win in NYC, and then the country can move on to create a new centralized business center. We can kiss NYC good-bye if the ignorant people there decide that NYC needs communism to make things ‘better’ for them.
The left is so confused as to who fired Kimmel that it doesn’t know who to attack.
It wasn’t Trump (Their favorite target) or the FFC because he had been fired for 2 days before they started to ask questions.
So was it ABC whose HQ they shot up in in another UVU type act. Or was it Disney or the stations who were refusing to air his show or was it the sponsors who dropped him like a hot potatoe (potato).
RE:...he is a frickin Muslim SOB.
You have a great point.
He is an all around menace. I shouldn’t confine him to just being a dangerous Commie.
Cities with rising Muslim populations in the US start as Ilhan Omar shyly smiling for the fawning media cameras in her first campaign, and then foul mouthed, aggressive and incendiary verbal attacks on Trump and us later on.
Wow, it’s as if the people who are corporate officers have some sort of legal obligation to ensure the fiscal performance of their company.
Kimmel was fired because he sucked. He was losing money.
Charlie Kirk was an excuse, not a cause.
This piece of s### Zohran Mamdani will win mayor of NYC. And the city will burn. Ya deserve what you vote for Demscum.
Same one as Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein. Same as Newsom! We have to shed this American Idol culture.
Steven Miller 2028 LOL!
