Long Island councilwoman sues TV’s ‘most beautiful doctor’ over botched procedure she never requested: ‘I can’t walk’

A vein treatment at a clinic owned by a celebrity surgeon has left a Long Island councilwoman in crippling agony, after she was given a procedure she never agreed to that was painfully botched, a new lawsuit claims.

Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh claims a doctor employed by TV medical pro Dr. David Greuner — who was once dubbed “America’s Most Beautiful Doctor” — was supposed to give her a complimentary vein test under anesthesia, but wound up giving her an unexpected surgery.

The two-term Republican lawmaker claims Dr. Arno Rotgans did the 2020 surgery while she was passed out without her consent — and when she woke up, she was shocked to find out it was botched and had left her in agonizing pain.

“I can’t even move, especially my left side, I can’t walk,” Walsh, 58, told Newsday.

Wash claims that stents the size of a nickel had been implanted deep in her pelvic region — devices that later collapsed and fused into her veins, her suit claims.

“I couldn’t understand what was happening,” Walsh said.

Other doctors have told her that due to the fusion, the stents can never be safely removed since they could “shred” her veins, meaning the pain is just something she will have to live with, the suit says.

Oyster Bay is a fancy area on the north coast of Long Island, where Theodore Roosevelt was from. It is about 70 minutes from Manhattan in the middle of the night.

The lawsuit claims she agreed to a free vein test, but surgeon inserted stents without her permission which fused with her veins, causing unbearable pain and preventing her from walking.

Could part of her small intestine be taken out and made into a vein section replacement?

Seems like a pretty good case if the doctor did unecessary surgery without permission that left her badly injured.

Most malpractice cases go to trial, because the doctors don’t want to settle and admit fault, which would damage their record and reputation.

If you’ve picked a “celebrity surgeon”, you’re doing it wrong.

I find this story hard to believe. Perhaps the doctor screwed up in the operating room or not. That is subject to debate. When I had open heart surgery I signed permission and knowledge of the procedure. It would be insane for a surgeon not to do this. If this actually happened he will have his licensed pulled in that state.

His license has been pulled in New York and two other states.

Apparently he has been sued a bunch of times recently.

As to the "America's most beautiful doctor" bit... I have seen better.

Let’s see the doctor and then we’ll determine guilt/innocence.

Most surgical consents contain an “and any other indicated procedures” clause.

My father and my younger brother were both killed by medical errors while undergoing treatment in a hospital. No one in my extended family has ever been shot and killed with a firearm. It is easy to conclude that doctors are far more dangerous than firearms.

Most malpractice cases go to trial, because the doctors don’t want to settle and admit fault,

Many years ago, my brother-in-law, who was an Oncologist, was a co-defendant in a malpractice suit simply for referring a patient to another specialist.

His insurance company was willing to settle and wanted him to admit fault, which he wouldn't do.

On the last day, the judge called him and his attorney into his chambers and urged him to just settle and get it over with. He still refused.

In the end, either the plaintiff's attorney dropped the suit or the jury found him innocent. Either way, he was exonorated.

I WOULD THINK THAT SOMETHING THAT SHORT IN LENGTH-—COULD ALLOW THE VEINS TO BE “STRETCHED TO SOLVE THE ISSUE
