Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr said Thursday that he believes it would be "worthwhile" to investigate whether ABC’s daytime talk show "The View" is violating broadcast rules in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension.
Carr argued on "The Scott Jennings Show" that the left-leaning talk show could be violating the commission's "equal time" rule, which requires broadcasters to provide equal opportunity to all political candidates except for a "bona fide news show."
"Potentially, I would assume you can make the argument that The View is a bona fide news show, but I'm not so sure about that," Carr said. "And I think it's worthwhile to have the FCC look into whether ‘The View’ and some of these other programs that you have still qualify as bona fide news programs and therefore exempt from the equal opportunity regime that Congress has put in place."
Fox News Digital reached out to ABC and Disney for comment.
According to the Media Research Center, "The View" failed to book a single right-leaning guest to discuss politics between January and April 2025. At the same time, "The View" managed to welcome 63 liberal guests during that same time, including nine Democratic politicians.
"The View" has also been frequently attacked by the Trump administration over the hosts' tirades against President Donald Trump. A White House spokesperson warned in July that the show could be "pulled off-air" if the attacks didn’t stop.
An entertainment lawyer with clients at ABC told Fox News Digital that "The View" could very well be the next show on the chopping block.
"I think ‘The View’ is next," the lawyer said, saying the show's liberal brand was wearing thin.

That’s one job even Mike Rowe wouldn’t take............
Didn’t realize its still on. They could always bring it back for a short time around Halloween.
And don't forget, whatever this administration does, Democrats will do it times ten to conservatives.
So?
Hmm while we despise the wretched skanks the view we do not want a return to the fairness doctrine. It kills feee speech
Trump himself said they should go after Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers next, so who knows. They aren’t very political though
From a year ago today:
Seth Myers is a very political moron. He’s going to be fined and removed along with the View hags and anyone else spreading lies about Trump. Fallon is okay, but he’s not funny.
Seth Meyers yes. Jimmy Fallon? No. He can stay (IMHO).
Don’t shut The View down.
The rest of the world needs to see just how stupid and dangerous the Left is.
Rush was right. Just let them talk. Good, sane people need to see what the Left is all about.
Put whooping wig back on the mop
Totally agree. If anyone on “The View” is advocating violence or a crime - that would warrant a government investigation.
But simple lies, ignorant comments, etc. That’s all 1A free speech. The government should stay out of it.
And for the balancing of political points of view, come on now. “The View” is just a talk show. No different than Colbert, or even the old Johnny Carson show. Let the viewers decide if the show is fair, or not. If it’s not, don’t watch it.
Now, if ABC wants to take action, that would be a different story.
“ Constitution allows for people to say stupid things, and even patently false thing. So, what is the basis for this?”
These networks operate under federal compliance. They want to say untrue and damaging things, they can. But then they have to purchase time on a podcast or cable
Rush warned us about this equal time trap. Enforcing such a requirement would have destroyed his show.
How often has the FCC interfered with TV or radio stations?
I may not be in the majority on this, but I think it’s silly for Trump to feud with deranged TV leftists like Kimmel and the so-called ladies of The View. Few outside their small hardcore band of like-minded followers pay any attention to the ranting and raving of these looney toons. It’s almost like Trump gives them relevant by bickering with them.
* relevance
“How often has the FCC interfered with TV or radio stations?”
What?
This is a waste of time. They don’t interfere. They have regulations. The question is how much have ABC, nbc and cbs defied those regulations, and how much the FCC not enforced their rules
Maybe it’s like the border
