North Idaho College Investigating Professor’s Charlie Kirk Statements

North Idaho College has announced it is investigating one of its professors’ online statements regarding Charlie Kirk. Matthew Singer is an assistant professor of biology. The Kootenai County Spectator first covered his statements. Singer posted the following statement on his Facebook profile:

“Charlie Kirk once said that gun deaths are worth the cost of the 2nd Amendment. Thank you for your sacrifice for our 2nd amendment rights. Thots and preyers you make it to hell.”

NIC posted on their Facebook page, saying they were investigating the instructor. Here is their full statement:

A Message from North Idaho College

North Idaho College expresses its sincere condolences following the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. We extend our sympathies to his loved ones and to those impacted by this horrific event. Violence must never be a part of our civic or political life.

We have been made aware of allegations against an instructor at NIC concerning a social media post. We are in the process of investigating those allegations. We want to assure our community that this matter is a priority and we are treating it with the utmost importance.

At North Idaho College, we remain committed to fostering an environment where ideas can be shared openly, safely, and respectfully—a cornerstone of both education and democracy. The First Amendment protects the right to speak, but it does not shield anyone from the consequences of how that speech impacts others.

Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of our campus community is a constant priority at NIC. Support is available for those navigating grief, anxiety, or related challenges.

That namby-pamby milquetoast statement by NIC is also disappointing.

It's also disappointing that he wasn't immediately placed on "administrative leave." Or, better yet, fired.

There was a time when the First Amendment protected such reprehensible comments, but the left has taught us the new standards speech, that includes ‘hate speech’ and even comments that makes others feel uncomfortable or offends them.
