Trump’s Crime Crackdown Spreads to Surprising Red State-Blue City of Memphis
Red State ^ | 09/12/2025 | Katie Jerkovich

President Donald Trump appeared to announce that his crime crackdown will spread to the very blue city of Memphis, in the red state of Tennessee.

During his appearance on Friday on "Fox and Friends," President Trump talked about the success his administration has had after enacting a 30-day federalization of local law enforcement in Washington, D.C., before he revealed the next Democrat-run city that could see a surge of officers.

"Look at what we did in D.C.," Trump said. "We took D.C., probably the single-worst place in the country in terms of crime. There's no crime. It's a crime-free area."

"D.C. is now a great, safe…now we're fixing it up physically too," he added, pointing out that they will even be fixing the potholes. "We're going to make it beautiful."

"Almost every city that's in trouble is run by Democrats," Trump continued. "We're going to straighten out the crime in these cities. So, we're going to Memphis. I'm going to announce that now…Memphis is deeply troubled... We're going to fix that just like we did in Washington."

The White House later sent out a press release confirming Memphis is next for the federalization of officers.

"This morning, President Donald J. Trump announced plans to deploy federal resources to Memphis, Tennessee, as part of the Trump Administration's aggressive push to dismantle the rampant violent crime fueled by failed Democrat governance in major cities," the statement read. "With Memphis enduring the highest violent crime rate in the nation, President Trump's decisive action has already been welcomed by elected officials in the state.

The press release then provided some shocking stats. Here are some that stood out.

In 2024, Memphis had the highest violent crime rate, highest property crime rate, and the third-highest murder rate in the U.S.

In 2024, Memphis's murder rate was higher than notoriously high-crime U.S. cities — such as Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, and Washington, D.C — and roughly four times higher than Mexico City, 27 times higher than Havana, and 37 times higher than London.

As RedState has reported, President Trump is done playing with Democrat governors and mayors and has begun the surge of law enforcement in places like Chicago, too, with "Operation Midway Blitz."

In a post on Monday on X, Leavitt announced, "Trump admin launches 'Operation Midway Blitz' in push to target illegal immigrants, fight violent crime in Chicago."

I mentioned going to Memphis at the family reunion and my cousin said it was a bad place to go to.

So I’m going somewhere else.

We drove through Memphis. Do it during the day and you will be fine.

We made sure to not stay there. We drove past the Children's Hospital all the way down that street going east.

Glad to have done it, but when you see West Memphis, you think it's been through a war.

This will be the second time I've seen the National Guard deployed to Memphis. The first time was in 1978/79 when I was attending college there. That Summer, salary negotiations broke down between the city and the firefighters' union, and suddenly fires started mysteriously popping up throughout the city. "Scab" firefighters were brought in, and someone started taking pot shots of them while fighting fires.

Eventually the National Guard was deployed. Some stood on street corners with rifles slung over their shoulders, while others traveled the streets by military jeep.

It seemed to settle things down pretty nicely at the time.

Why is it surprising? A blue crime-ridden city is still a blue crime-ridden city even when it’s inside a red state.

Several years ago, the USA Political Left and the Hard Left USA News Media started pounding the idea that Memphis is a high crime city in a Red voting state.

They rarely explain that more than 60% of Memphis residents are Black, and that less than 25% of residents are white.

They also fail to explain that, after major Black rioting and forced busing began in the early 1970s, half of the white Memphis population literally moved out.

The most common complaint I hear from the left (dementiacrats, socialists, muslim invaders, outright communists) shrieking in congress is “tRUmP isn’T GOiNg iNtO rEd sTaTEs, dErP!”

Because “red” (-blooded American) states aren’t really the PROBLEM, it’s dementiacrat-run CITIES.

ennessee, considered “RED” has a major problem with four progressive Democrat-run cities, Memphis (highest crime rate in the nation), Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville - the latter run by a populist corruptocrat who is violating his oath of office, US Code and should be arrested RFN (or RFQ for my southern friends here) for aiding and abetting illegal alien invaders and supporting terrorists in ANTIFA and BLM.

I’m okay with President Trump starting with Memphis. I’d like to go there for ribs and a riverboat tour sometime and, while I carry concealed, (I’ve an enhanced handgun carry permit) I do try to shoot as few people as necessary as a general rule.

Red state, blue city.
*********
News flash, most states are red, most cities are blue and it has been that way for years, at least since the 80s.
