New Haven police chief, mayor speak after city sees 5 murders in just over '2 weeks'

New Haven experienced its fifth homicide in less than a month Monday, when a man was fatally gunned down in the city.

It is the 13th murder in New Haven this year.

Monday’s shooting occurred around 1:46 p.m. near Chapel Street and Ellsworth Avenue, New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said in a press conference held there that evening.

...

Mayor Justin Elicker also spoke at the press conference held near the site of the shooting. He was glad to hear that the murders haven’t been connected but is discouraged that they are occurring at all.

“It’s just obviously really unfortunate that we’ve lost members of our community,” Elicker said. “The police are working very hard on the cases to make sure that we bring people to justice.”

...

"It's scary because I have children, teenagers that go to that store, and it's kind of close to home," one resident said, noting that more programs centered around mental health should be available to the community.

Another man who did not want to be identified said the recent spike in violence has made him afraid to leave the house with his young child.

"They need to crack down a little harder," he said. "People want to be safe out here in the streets at home, just walking in general."

The man added that the "streets are raising the streets" and delved into what that means.

"A lot of male father figures are non-existent. They are either in jail or they passed away," he said.

Thanks to Lyndon Baines Johnson and his democrat henchmen.

I remember a city that had six murders in a week end. The Chief of Police immediately called for “MORE GUN CONTROL!”

Problem is none of the murders were committed with firearms.

Invite Trump to help. I know half the population and 99% of Yale would be filling their Depends, but what Eliker is doing isn’t working.

“WE HAVE LOST MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY”

WHAT A BUNCH OF PANSY WORDS TO DESCRIBE CRIME OUT OF CONTROL

New Haven? Kind of like “Springfield.” Got it narrowed down to about 30 or 40 states.

Yep. And home to the most “intelligent” and smartest people in the world at Yale. I have friends in New Haven and the have always believed that Yale essentially runs the city.

I spent a week in New Haven in 2018. I was always uneasy and on my guard. Got bum rushed, literally. Other than that, it is a lovely city. Yale is like a fortress, with 10 foot walls and limited entrances.

Elicker is a milquetoast dem. A few years ago they removed the road sign acknowledging New Haven as the birthplace of GW Bush. New Haven’s Defenders Monument recognizing a Revolutionary war battle is overseen by a tattered flag that needed replacing years ago. The town green and train station are free-range psych wards. The local emergency rooms are chronically overcrowded. The streets are full of unregistered cars with out-of-state paper tags. The year started with a door dash guy getting carjacked and murdered by a 19 yo female. Good pizza. There’s a snapshot.

He was glad to hear that the murders haven’t been connected....

+++++++

Not sure I follow the logic. 5 murders, all connected, mean you have one case to solve albeit a nasty one. 5 m urders, not connected mean you have 5 cases to solve.

The New Haven green is a really picture place. However, as you said, it’s not a place you exactly want to be, especially at night. A while back I met some friends for dinner at a restaurant nearby the green. The only place I could easily find parking was near the courthouse/City Hall. You could tell pretty much everyone try to be in that general vicinity because that’s where the police tended to hang out most of the time.

New Haven is ruled by Yale University, and is a dangerous dump as you would expect.

So is New Haven....
