Robin Westman’s pot connection is another reason to go slow on looser rules for weed

News that Minneapolis monster Robin Westman worked at a pot shop until just two weeks ago should give pause to those in the White House reportedly pushing President Donald Trump to take a landmark step toward federal approval of marijuana use.

Westman, 23, was apparently fired from Rise, an area cannabis dispensary, on Aug. 16 over chronic tardiness and absenteeism.

If you know anything at all about the culture of this biz, that tells you the odds are awfully good that he was using, too.

And medical research in recent years keeps producing fresh evidence strongly suggesting that heavy marijuana use exacerbates other mental-health issues, perhaps making young men five times more likely to become schizophrenic.

Heck, any New Yorker’s experience with some of the clearly crazed folks roaming the city indicates some link, even if the drug use starts as amateur self-medication.

Baby Boomers’ fond memories of their college years shouldn’t guide policy: Today’s pot delivers as much as 10 times as much THC as the weed sold in past decades — and the plethora of new pot products are far more potent.

Yet by all accounts the president is considering shifting marijuana from a Schedule I drug to Schedule III — an upgrade that would make it far easier for Big Weed to operate in the states that have legalized and doubtless fuel legalization drives in the rest.

I’m shocked that NYP released this article.

How has pot gotten 10 x more powerful w/thc over the years??

Hybrid plants? Or, added in to same plants?

I have no idea…not a pot smoker. I DO know it smells just like skunks, now. It did not decades ago (I don’t recall the skunk smell at concerts). Maybe the skunk smell is what’s made it more “powerful”? 🤷🏼‍♀️

"Retards on hormones and other heavy meds should not be smoking pot."

These trans wackos are not just hopped up on cheap Mexican made estrogen. They are taking testosterone blockers too. This trans killer was on at least 10 meds is my guess, including anti-depressants, anti-ADD. His body was a test bed for bad drug interactions.

Ah, you don't know.
Potency is tested on seized samples.
High potency weed was not predominate decades ago due to the expense so people used low potency, cheap weed. (dirt weed or headache weed)
As higher potency weed became more available, and cheaper, it became the more predominant purchase and it increased in seized amounts.
With the increased seizures of high quality weed the tested levels of potency also increased.

Thus you have the agenda driven STORY these days that the weed of today is stronger than that of yesteryear. It isn't stronger, it's simply more affordable, available and dominates sales over weaker strains and is seized more frequently.

Nobody buys dirt weed when good weed is available and plentiful.

Thx ... I don’t buy it, so I have no idea.

Appreciate the explanation.

I was shocked NYP posted an article disparaging pot! Since they’re in NYC ... land of the skunk smell 😂

Speaking of ... you didn’t answer the skunk smell question. Why does pot smell like skunk, these days?

Thx.

Take a landmark step toward federal approval of marijuana use.

Hell no people are living proof how stupid they get with it they weren’t in good shape to begin with.

California is a poster for haw bad staonr staes are.

In Los Angeles, a hit and run occurs every 18 minutes. Statistically, dozens of people are killed each year in Los Angeles County by hit and run drivers. Hundreds more are injured. Only about a fifth of these serious felony hit and run cases are solved, according to police statistics.Jun 3, 2025

Why does pot smell like skunk, these days?

Some strains, like in indica and sensimilla strains, have that smell. High potency strains.

Again, more, better production, through hydroponics for example, and greater distribution make those strains more profitable and the aroma more prevalent as it's sold in higher quantities.

Good weed always smelled that way, you just didn't realize it.

So how did a clerk in a pot shop afford the weapons and accoutrements to go along with those weapons? Or the apartment it was allegedly living in by itself?
