Holiday hotspots Majorca and Ibiza are preparing to house asylum seekers in a swathe of UK-style migrant hotels, according to local reports.
The move comes amid a surge in the number of migrants arriving on the shores of the Balearic Islands.
Made up of Menorca and Formentera as well as Majorca and Ibiza, the Balearics have seen an unprecedented rise in illegal arrivals this year - fuelling fears that the Mediterranean getaway could become a migration hotspot.
Some 639 migrants reached the islands in the space of just three days earlier this month after making the journey on 38 small boats, taking the total figure to 4,500 arrivals for the year thus far.
While this is far less than the 50,000 who have arrived in Britain since Sir Keir Starmer's Labour assumed power last year, Balearic officials have consistently pleaded with the government to increase border support.
'Where is the government of (Pedro) Sanchez?' regional leader Marga Prohens said earlier this month, referring to Spain's Prime Minister.
She called for increased law enforcement resources and cooperation with Algeria, where it is believed the majority of the small wooden boats, known as pateras, are coming from.
And after Madrid vowed to assist the islands' capacity to absorb arrivals, it appears that this support is coming in the form of a multi-million euro care package to fund migrant hotels.
According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the Spanish Government has given Balearic officials 6.7million euros to combat the crisis.
They say that the budget being deployed to fund migrant hotels will only be used in 'exceptional circumstances' where existing temporary accommodation is full.
But the report claims Madrid's funding will be used to create further care facilities in the Port of Palma.

Just imagine an EU country that is completely taken over by Islam. The new government will look at the insanity of wind and solar power. They will immediately begin Drill Baby Drill operations. Coal, natural gas, oil, fracking, you name it. Those Koran printing presses need energy.
Anyone who complains will be vilified as suffering from Islamophobia.
With the hotels full of illegals, a lot of vacationers will find somewhere else to go, too. Eventually, there won't be enough tourists left to fund the freeloaders. Prices will soar, then collapse.
So you could wait until that happens and have a bargain vacation.
If you can't wait, then arrive in a small wooden boat and claim refugee status when you get there!

Why do they give them hotels with amenities? They should build them Sheriff Joe Arpaio-style tent cities, serve them bologna sandwiches, and make the men wear pink jumpsuits.
