Church of Safe Injection building condemned in Lewiston (Maine)

One of the state's first harm reduction community centers has abruptly closed, leaving extreme filth so severe that the building is condemned.

Fecal matter, thousands of used needles and people sleeping in the basement were all found inside a commercial building now locked up and slapped with a condemned notice. One of the doors had been broken into and from there, you have access through the rest of the building,” Lewiston City Building Inspector Travis Tardiff said. “Several other doors had been unlocked to allow other people in.” Most of the building is empty, but the Church of Safe Injection used to give out clean needles and offer other services.

The city believes they abandoned the space, leaving a mess behind.

Mail is overflowing in the mailbox, and a calendar is frozen in time, still reading “June.”

Did they lose their membership because they strayed from their orthodoxy or got too traditional?

I don't know what the big solution is, but I think it involves:

More prisons
Mental institutions
And -- just perhaps -- very large voluntary concentration camps where people can go to live and fill themselves full of government-supplied drugs until they die. Which might happen soon, or maybe later. No one needs to care very much.

One way or another, I think society needs to be cleaned up so decent people can walk the streets without much worry.

“And — just perhaps — very large voluntary concentration camps where people can go to live and fill themselves full of government-supplied drugs until they die. “

There have been numerous programs in various communities to move the homeless into free housing. They generally go inside, steal and sell everything and then go back to living on the streets. Why? In a word, paranoia. I spoke to a psychiatrist once and he told me that paranoia was untreatable. A paranoid’s defenses were unbeatable. So there’s literally nothing you can do to help probably ninety percent of the homeless.

Lewiston has about 6,000 Somali immigrants. Clinton started filling it up when he was president in order to flip Maine. Seems to be working.

Lewiston is most famous for being the site of the May 25, 1965 WBA Championship fight which Cassius Clay won with the infamous “phantom punch”

Imagine having the business next door - a restaurant, no less - having to beg the CDC for help - and getting nothing but crickets:

“Mancini owns the restaurant next door. “I am happy that it seems to be that we are relocating these types of businesses out of the downtown business area,” Mancini said. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says what happened there violates state health and safety regulations. “It felt like the CDC actually didn’t care what was going on,”

He says he complained to the city and the CDC for two years, but nothing was done. ‘There were needles everywhere, people all over the streets, people defecated on my doorstep when I would come to work over and over,’ Hiltz said.”

Looks like Lewiston is turning into San Francisco.

“I don’t know what the big solution is...”

I do... Just do what Singapore does. Have zero tolerance for illegal drug use and especially dealing.

As a result their “homeless” (ie. druggies) problem is virtually nonexistent.

Go there if you get a chance and you’ll see what a well run society looks like.

The director of this BS needle exchange program, Zoe Brokos, was the director of Portland Maine’s needle exchange program, another abject failure.

A friend who lives in Portland goes on a morning walk with his dog, and documents how the “compassionate” needle program has resulted in used needles littering the streets of Portland. Curiously, the beautiful people in Portland City Hall don’t seem to care much about the quality of life for residents in Portland.

A guy I know wants barrels of free cocaine put on every intersection of every major city.

The problem solves itself within five years.

harm reduction community center

What an Orwellian name. You let junkies in, they will turn it into a garbage pit filled with filth no matter how it started out.

The “Church of Safe Injection.” I know churches everywhere are abandoning traditional liturgy, but that’s going too far.
