Trump-Allied Polish President Nawrocki Wants to Criminalize Ukrainian ‘Bandera’ Neo-Nazi Ideology

Trump-allied Nawrocki wants to curb Kiev’s nefarious Neo-Nazi ideology in Poland.

Beneath all current tensions between Ukraine and its major sponsor Poland, lies the deep, unhealed historical wound of the WW2 Volyn massacre.

The Volyn massacre was a series of war crimes perpetrated by Ukrainian Nazi collaborators, under national hero Stepan Bandera, that led to the ethnic cleansing of the Polish population. To this day, Warsaw considers the Volyn tragedy to be genocide of Poles.

Back in September 2024, when Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky aggressively refused to discuss the issue, Poland started pressuring Ukraine to exhume the victims of the massacre, giving them proper burials.

Two weeks ago, Poland moved to expel 57 Ukrainians for Displaying Nazi Flag During Concert Riot, and the pushback seems to be just starting.

Warsaw is a lifeline to Ukraine during the ongoing war: sending money, hosting the sites where most of the military aid from other countries is stored before it is sent to the war-torn neighbor.

Warsaw government also has welcomed more than a million Ukrainian refugees, extending to them access to social benefits.

But now, Donald J. Trump ally President Karol Nawrocki wants to crack down on the cult of WW2 Nazi collaborator (and Ukrainian national hero) Stephan Bandera.

“’I believe that we should include a very important slogan in the ‘Stop Banderism!’ bill and equate the Bandera symbol with symbols that correspond to German National Socialism, which is simply called fascism’, Polish President Karol Nawrocki told journalists.”

A Ukrainian media report ---

"On Monday 25 August, Nawrocki announced a legislative initiative that would amend Poland's Criminal Code to equate the "Bandera symbol" with Nazi and communist symbols. [Stepan Bandera was a Ukrainian nationalist leader who is often criticised in Poland for extremist actions during the Second World War – ed.]

"We are analysing the legal implications of the decisions made and their potential impact on the situation of Ukrainian citizens in Poland," a diplomatic source said.

The source said Kyiv is grateful to Warsaw for all its past decisions in favour of Ukrainian citizens and believes their rights will be respected no less than in other European Union countries.

"However, any politicised decisions to supposedly equate Ukrainian symbols with Nazi and communist ones could provoke an increase in negative sentiment in Ukrainian society and would require a response from the Ukrainian side," the source stressed.

"...politicised decisions...." Never mind about the history and such.

Every country has their own heroes, Russia for instance still venerates Stalin

In Russian Yekaterinburg, a 75-year-old pensioner was convicted for calling Stalin a dictator and a murderer.

The court found Nikolay Dolgushin guilty of "rehabilitation of Nazism" over his comments on the Odnoklassniki social network: "The Second World War was started by the dictator and murderer Stalin," and "It was the murderer and dictator Stalin who declared war on peaceful Poland."

The pensioner was sentenced to 1 year and 2 months on probation and banned from using the Internet for 1.5 years. He was also ordered to register with a psychiatrist.

In today's Russia, it turns out that a mentally stable person who calls things by their proper names is required to undergo psychiatric treatment.

So what’s Zelensky and Ukraine gonna do, beg more money and arms to attack Poland? It would be a brilliant move on Zelensky’s part to provoke Poland into repatriating all he Ukrainians and stop assisting in aid o Ukraine.

If that's true why have gulags been preserved in Russia documenting the atrocities of Stalin?

Anyone dumb comment from someone inflicted with Russian Derangement Syndrome.

--- "So what's Zelensky and Ukraine gonna do...."

I think the subject of your question is actually of two parts. What's Z going to do? What's Ukraine going to do?

Likely Zelensky's history going forward will detach from Ukraine over time, if the war -- a "proxy war" because our Secretary of State Rubio said it is -- does not go his way. He won't stay to explain to people with huge losses. He won't be a hero, if Ukraine loses.

Ukraine will likely by a different country when all is over. If all is over. When all is over.

The EU will have a tidy headache if Russia keeps the east of Ukraine because Ukraine will become a 'welfare client' expecting support for many, many years.

I separate the EU from the US, as we are not among their "member states," and are not encumbered by their encumbrances.

One thing is certain: this mess is extraorindarily complex. Reason: assets.

The US and Europe are still doing billions of dollars’ worth of business with Russia despite years of war CNN, 14 August 2025.
And... the proposal is not yet passed, but....
"The EU will gradually and effectively stop the import of Russian gas and oil by the end of 2027, under a legislative proposal put forward by the European Commission today. "

Commission proposes gradual phase-out of Russian gas and oil imports into the EU European Commisson, 16 June 2025.

When recently asked by the Levada Center to name “the most outstanding individuals of all time and peoples,” the top three named by Russian respondents were Josef Stalin (42%), Vladimir Putin (31%) and Vladimir Lenin (28%).

That Stalin saved the country from the Nazis might just be the reason for that.

You realize we and the Allied Forces aligned with Stalin during WW II?

Do you think we picked the wrong side like the Bandera worshippers in Ukraine do?

Ukraine was stuffed with “literal Nazis” for a long time. Russians killed many of the Nazi battalions, maybe some are left. The Nazis ran the child/women/sex trafficking operations, as well as baby selling. And whoever was “in charge” of Ukraine didn’t mind obviously.

Sure, but first Stalin was an ally of the nazis in the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and together invaded Poland
