Republicans are plowing forward with plans for redistricting in several other states now that Texas is poised to approve its newly redrawn maps.
The Lone Star State kicked off the redistricting arms race when Republicans in the state Legislature agreed to move forward with rewriting their congressional lines at the insistence of President Trump.
Now, as Democrats in California look to counter Texas with their own redistricting plan, the GOP is setting its sights on states from Florida to Indiana to Missouri, signaling a new phase of the fight.
“There’s not much more Democrats can do at this point, which is kind of part and parcel of the Republican reason behind doing this,” said Missouri Republican strategist Gregg Keller. “The question is whether or not we are going to unilaterally disarm as a party in the face of what they have done.”
Texas may have been the start of this year’s escalating redistricting battle, but it’s far from the end. National attention swung to the Lone Star State after Trump’s call on Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to take the rare but not unprecedented step of calling a special legislative session to conduct mid-decade redistricting.
With as many as five likely pickup opportunities in the proposed map for next year, Texas Republicans are better positioned than those in any other state to increase their party’s chances of holding control of the House.
But if California voters approve a ballot measure to let the state Legislature redraw its map for the rest of the decade, Democrats could also pick up as many as five additional seats there in the midterms. That raises the stakes for states that may only be able to add on one or two extra seats...

Oh hell yes!! Thank God the GOP took the time to learn all of the gerrymandering tricks from the democrats.
It’s GEAUX Time!!
LBJ’s legacy is finally coming to an end.
I suggest they start with Maricopa County in Arizona. Make Tempe, Flagstaff and a couple of other liberal cesspools centered around the universities their own district and leave the rest of us normal people alone. Same thing for Tucson.
This must happen. The rats have escalated this fight. If the GOP finally fights back in kind the rats are screwed because the Dummy states are already tilted.
Question - Who would benefit more from an end to gerrymandering?
We've got a lot of work ahead of us.
Come to Georgia.
We elect a governor next year. I want to see who will stand up for the right of the majority.
Chris Carr can suck a dozen eggs.
So long as republicans insist on playing by Marquess of Queensberry rules while demoncrats fight with brass knuckles in their gloves - the republicans will continue to be played and beaten.
“ Question - Who would benefit more from an end to gerrymandering?”
Republic majorities in 83% of counties in US. Remove dead voters and others who do not belong on voter rolls and the Democrats would never win another election.
If seats were to be calculated dependent on political party representation, republicans would rightfully be entitled to 20 seats in California, not just the 9 they have now.
Prayers for God to direct the gerrymandering.
Twelve states representing 54 electoral votes have no Denmocrat representation in Congress.
You do realize that Vermont and Deleware are single district states. Pretty dumb to include them on the list.
Republicans control the other single party states, Wyoming. North Dakota and South Dakota.
Maine could be registered but our constitution prohibits mid decade changes. Maine is also not 46% Republican.
Party registration as of October 2022
Party Total voters Percentage
Democratic 339,103 37.48%
Republican 272,003 30.06%
Unenrolled 257,565 28.47%
Green 35,061 3.88%
Libertarian 942 0.10%
Total 904,674 100.00%
I have updated info on my computer, but this close to accurate for 2025.
Do you know a source for that list...local GOP would like to know.
I found it on X. The Republican percentage numbers appears to be the percentage that President Trump received in these states in 2024.
My cesspool state of NJ has 600,000 illegals. It’s gerrymandered to the max. If the 600,000 were removed the Democrats would be crushed by the next census and redistricting. Imagine 20 million illegals deported. That would be the end of the Democrats.
An honest census that removes illegals from the count could be far more consequential than the net effect of redistricting, which looks like it could be a wash.
Thx
