Trump should order a top-down audit of all the existing wind farms. Nobody has ever done an exhaustive cost-benefit analysis.

Solar and wind were another way to launder money.

I have gas and electric....I can be a good sheep and opt for wind....but I have to pay extra. My goal is to light and heat my home...

I want a gas stove, a gas furnace, a gas water heater, a gas dryer and electric lights.

The house I was born in originally had gas lights. It was built in 1904.

I hate to see the administration giving up on solar or wind power as it can be a good mix if they don’t determine it is the primary source of power. As the improvements will be discovered for both those and nuclear in time all of it may be pieces of the puzzle for our needs world wide. Problem with previous administrations is they got pushy and declared alternative sources were the answer to our needs by themselves and tried to get rid of the petroleum and coal capabilities.

A duck landed in a waste pond that also had oil in it. It should not have had oil in it. They fined the hell out of the oil producer. Mere miles away a wind turbine made an American Eagle into a dead eagle. That was not a problem. Do you see something wrong with this? Where in the hell are the environmentalist protesting the dead eagle. Actually they are not environmentalists but left wing ideologues that do not give a damn about the bird kills. Their motive is political power.

I'm just curious. Where did you get your engineering degree?

Solar has its uses, but they are rare and constrained. Wind power less so because of maintenance.

The rare, rural, remote cabin needs something other than the price tag to route power lines miles to just one cabin. That don’t work.

Solar does, somewhat. Wind, nope.

Best of all, remote cabin on a hillside, or mountainside, with micro hydro. Spinning parts, maintenance req’d but at ground level. Look into the micro hydro US expat retirees are installing for their rural homes in Panama country.

Mistake. If someone wants to pay for it, they should be allowed to do it. I can see banning federal funding (and encouraging states not to subsidize them, too), but outright bans are dumb.

It’s funny that libs are all anti-oil, but majority of wind components are made from oil. Also, the toxic materials in solar panels and blades. No place to put the used ones that they will decompose.

Nuclear, sure.

Wind and solar? As grid sources? HELL NO. They are ***INHERENTLY*** unreliable. Therefore there must exist reliable sources (fossil fuel, nuclear, hydro) on the same grid equal in capacity to the “renewables” — or the grid WILL fail to serve its purpose, someday. Not MAY fail — WILL fail.

Wind and solar are fine for residential/commercial applications for those who want them and can PAY for them — NO SUBSIDIES! — and are willing to deal with renewables’ reliability issues.

But NO grid-source renewables!!

Dumb. We want cheap abundant energy, from as many different sources as can be. Period.

What we need to end is the massive subsidies to any and all forms of energy. Ending those handouts (including to coal and gas and oil) will save many billions from the budget and spending as well.

The President can approve or disapprove of whatever individual projects he likes on federal lands... but simply banning entire categories of energy generation is just as stupid when he does it, as when the Libs do it to "fossil fuels".

You’re free to put up a small windmill in your backyard and hook it to a battery if you want.

Back in the day, a small windmill could pump water out a well.

One problem with solar is the degradation. Here in FL, NOTHING w/ eastern exposure escapes the sun and salt. Non-garaged cars can be destroyed in 3 or 4 years here. The chinese made solar panels can’t do much better. The replacement costs must be astronomical for that big field up around Ft. Pierce.

They (the greenies) act and talk like solar is a one time - “Set it and forget it” investment (like they do windmills). No. It’s not. It’s great for a cabin in a clearing, but not for most anyone else (and their tax/FPL $$)

I hate the giant wind turbines that have destroyed the landscape in so much of the west and offshore. When they’re running, all they do is kill birds and make noise/vibration, when they’re not they’re still an eyesore. I say tear them all down.

They are not paying for it. The rest of us are. The downstream consequences to farm land, whales, birds and to the grid are serious. The wind blades rust out quickly and rust in landfills. The solar panels are dangerous waste. If the lefties weren’t lying and cherry picking it would be very clear that wind & solar are environmental disasters.

Coal, gas or nuclear. That’s it. Otherwise pay for it without taxpayer assistance.
