On Monday, August 18 the California Senate Appropriations Committee is slated to hold a hearing on a bill that would ban the sale of Glock handguns; the final step before the bill could hit the Senate Floor.
AB 1127 has already cleared the lower chamber in the California statehouse, and is almost assured of passage in the Senate as well. Still, supporters of the ban aren't taking anything for granted. Ahead of tomorrow's hearing former Los Angeles prosecutor Mike Feuer has penned an op-ed backing the ban, which would be the first of its kind if enacted into law.
"Machine guns have been illegal for decades. But what if, in a matter of moments, a handgun could be transformed into a weapon that fires up to 20 bullets per second? That is now the horrifying reality confronting outgunned police departments and terrorizing communities throughout California and across the nation. So-called machine gun conversion devices are fueling a surge in gun violence fatalities. Victims range from police officers to young children struck in a barrage of bullets following a single trigger pull.
It is amazing that a device so small and inexpensive can wreak such havoc, and it is extraordinary to see a gun affixed with one in action. Roughly the size of a quarter and readily available for $20 or less, machine gun conversion devices are simple to attach to the backs of some semiautomatic pistols. (They are sometimes referred to as “Glock switches” because they are especially easy to attach to Glock pistols.)"
Despite what Feuer claims, machine guns aren't illegal to possess... at least not those manufactured before 1987. The machine gun conversion devices that Feuer describes, however, are illegal to possess under both federal and California law.

Of course ICE could have them !!
“confronting outgunned police departments and terrorizing communities”
The main thing terrorizing “communities” throughout California are millions of illegal aliens committing every crime imaginable and literally taking over the state.
The fact that they use guns to engage in their ethnic cleansing is incidental. And gun possession laws won’t do a damn thing to stop them, they’ll just smuggle them in.
The use of a Glock Switch in a handgun results in the handgun blowing up in your hands and face at some point. The materials in manufacturing are not selected or designed to take that heat and stress.
And now it’s time for my favorite Glock commercial. It features the Gunny and a stunningly beautiful woman. If you haven’t seen it, trust me. It’s worth the click.

🙂
Let alone after maybe the first 2 rounds or so the muzzel rise has you off target and a complete waste of ammo.
I’d presume that California law enforcement already figures that it will not be buying Glocks.
According to Google, CHP and SFPD uses Sig Sauers. LAPD uses FN MRD-LE. SDPD uses Colt. I do see where Glock is one of several types authorized for use in the Oakland PD.
Sounds like a bill of attainder.
This will be overturned at the 9th circuit if not sooner.
Classic Cal
Go after the gun and not the gang-bangers.
DILLIGAS, I don’t own any chew toys anyway
So, all police officers would be imprisoned?
Agree, worth the click.
California has slid down a long way from the past when San Francisco news papers used to give away a free firearm for subscriptions.

I remember Prop 15 in 1982 to register and ban handguns in California. Guaranteed to pass the anti-gun movement was already popping champagne corks. It failed miserably.

Illegals are bad for sure, but I'd say the wetbacks can't hold a candle to the Kali politicians in a damage-done contest.
Wow! Thanks for the link!
Yep. Illegals are just a symptom of the actual disease.
OH NOES! GLOCKS GONE WILD! Just when you think.....
This will be DOA when it hits the federal courts, which it is certain to do. Even the liberal judges here have struck down all of these ridiculous bans since SCOTUS rulings.
A Glock is clearly not a machine gun The fact that it is a weapon of choice for law enforcement is proof enough of its defensive value.
At some point the court should be sanctioning the state for bringing frivolous legislation that is blatantly unconstitutional
I believe that Bills of Attainder apply only to individuals or easily identifiable individuals of groups.
