Protesters Gather to Oppose Trump’s Push on Redistricting
New York Times ^ | 8/16/25 | J. David Goodman

Thousands gathered in cities across the country on Saturday to protest President Trump's plan to keep control of Congress after the 2026 midterms by pushing Republican-led states to redraw their congressional maps in favor of Republicans.

The president’s push for the rare and aggressively partisan redistricting, while centered on Texas so far, has set off a furious response among many Democratic state leaders and party activists. In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Friday that he was moving forward with a plan to redraw his state’s lines, and allow voters to approve it in November.

On Saturday, progressive activists, labor groups and pro-democracy organizations put together more than 300 political events and rallies, looking to galvanize voters who may be angry at the Trump administration but may view the process of redrawing district lines as opaque and unrelated to their concerns.

If all the people don’t want gerrymandering, then why not outlaw it and redistrict every state, with Democrats getting the percentage that they actually deserve (it would be a lot less than they now enjoy).

Let AI district sates proportionate to the state’s population distribution and geography. It’s not quite rocket science.

I agree. Trump is ordering a new Census. Let the states apportion by citizens only, and then the number of delegates by party if necessary.

I saw some “ice protestors” standing on a bridge over the highway during rush hour Friday. No one could hear them, read their signs, etc.

I drove by and shouted, “way to go ICE!!”

Paid protesters don’t count. Those who pay them shove held to account. It is illegal to hire a mob, right?

Thousands at 300 events, so maybe 10 at each one? This makes the No Kings rallies look huge.

I agree. The error in this NYT article is this statement: “Trump (Republicans) is trying to keep control of Congress.” When, in fact, it’s the Democrats who have gerrymandered districts far more than the Republicans. The Republicans are trying to even the score.

Please, let’s remember that these are more than likely fake protestors and paid crowds.

“Crowds on Demand CEO Adam Swart told “Fox & Friends” on Friday that his company has received 400% more paid protester requests this year than during the same period last year.

Fox News’ Lawrence Jones asked the Crowds on Demand CEO how much the paid protesters that he curates for political protests typically make for their services.

“We don’t comment on specific protests, but generally the range can be from the low hundreds, the low one hundreds, into a few hundred,” he told Jones. “It really depends on the location, the duration and any challenges, for example, cold weather or early morning. You guys at ‘Fox & Friends’ know all about getting up early in the morning. We tend to pay people more [for] that.”

The truth is these are democrats desperately trying to keep the house numbers close enough to steal control.

“The president’s push for the rare and aggressively partisan redistricting,”
This unethical writer lies right off the bat. It is not rare as democrats have been aggressively partisan redistricting for decades. The NYT can’t tell the truth no matter what. It truely is the propaganda wind of the dem party.

The headline should have the proper wording included...

Thousands of Soros's paid protesters

Trump would have no protesters if they weren't being paid to do so.
