The owners of a Los Fresnos Bakery were convicted Wednesday on charges of harboring undocumented employees within their business.

Owners Leonardo Baez-Lara and Nora Avila-Guel will be sentenced on Nov. 18, 2025. They are permanent, legal residents but could lose their residency status following their convictions. They are currently out on bond pending their sentencing.

...

Baez-Lara and Avila-Guel were arrested in February after a federal raid led to eight employees being detained.

The trial started on Monday. During closing arguments, the government said the owners of Abby's Bakery had an agreement with the undocumented workers to secretly shelter them at their bakery.

...

Baez-Lara and Avila-Guel face up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000 fine.

For those asking for employers to be prosecuted, here's an obvious case.

More ICE please!

A lot of the economy is based on illegal alien cheap labor
So the law abiding tax paying public pays for the illegal alien med costs, housing costs, police and fireman protection, schools for the kids,on and on.
Meanwhile the business owners avoids payroll taxes, etc...and gets rich off of taxpayers largesse. The Dems and law breaking business owners embrace the scam. Keeps Dem scum in power and people get rich off of the taxpayers dime.
Disgusting.

How do these illegals get med costs and all the rest if the employer isn’t paying payroll taxes?

They’re past being booked ...

They’re now convicted felons.

Illegals get all kinds of free stuff.

For quite a while, I’ve been saying that the Democrat party is the party of the elite and the dependent. The dependent can be on welfare or they can be collecting huge amounts as an NGO, contractor, etc. Now I think I should say they are the party of the elite, the dependent and the illegal. The Democrat party certainly has nothing in it for the citizen working class.

It was the yeast they could do, since so many legals are loafing.

This was no average case:

“The trial started on Monday. During closing arguments, the government said the owners of Abby’s Bakery had an agreement with the undocumented workers to secretly shelter them at their bakery.

The defense argued that evidence showed no one was being held against their will and there was no forced labor. They also claimed the workers were being paid above minimum wage.”

I’m really angry that Every Single Employer hiring illegals isn’t in as much trouble as these people.
Seriously. If the government can prove in court beyond a reasonable doubt that a business owner is deliberately and knowingly hiring illegal aliens then I say strip their citizenship and throw them out of America. Preferably into the country the illegal aliens came from.
Yes, I know it can’t happen but that’s how strongly I feel about it.

It is simple math (not to the left) that higher labor costs associated with the removal of cheap illegal alien labor will be more that offset by the myriad of costs to economy of having these people here. Also of course the human cost of assaults, rapes, murders, DUIs etc.

Even here on Free Republic I am surprised at how many expect the benefits of Trump policies etc to show massive, painless improvement in months. Tariffs being one example. The cost of tomatoes as another. We are fighting the long game.

America is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC to “properly” represent the citizenry.
Anytime you hear a Dem whine about “gerrymandering,” ponder this:
<><>9 blue states have 32-48% Republican voters but have ZERO reps in the US House
<><>California, Illinois, NY, Md, NJ and Oregon have 34%-46% GOP voting
<><>yet Republicans have only some 20% of seats.
<><>If you republish the 2020 census and correct the miscounts, it changes everything.
<><>Texas alone was off by 560,000.
<><>Reapportionment without counting illegals would shift power to rural red areas
<><>this would make it harder for Dems to gerrymander.
<><>Dems have gerrymandered the vote beyond recognition
<><>they will resort to anything to maintain their advantage
<><> Democrats rigged the 2020 census by including illegal aliens...
<><>reports show they fought tooth and nail to include illegal aliens in the census.
<><>20-30 of House Democrat seats wouldn’t exist but for illegal aliens.
<><>Biden signed E/O 13986 on day one of his presidency.
<><>That executive order commanded illegals to be counted in the census.
<><>Biden was corruptly gerrymandering the whole country for the Democrats.

Texas redistricting is taking just a small corrective step against a Dem
ocean of fraud, an ocean of abuse by the corrupt Democrat Party.

How can it be proven they were being paid above $7.25 minimum wage in Los Fresno? Most likely they were paid in cash and not by check. Did any of the illegals produce a tax return proving their salary? Don’t make me laugh.

Amen. I’d rather endure the hardships getting to a better place than the hardships of staying in a rotten one.

Hopefully, making an example out of these business owners will send a message to others who are doing the same. Maybe they’ll realize it is no longer worth taking the risk.
