The fact is that it happened at McDonald’s - who had received hundreds of prior complaints of burns.
Lawyers are at their very best, morally neutral. Their purported mission to find the truth is fiction.
I apologize if I have offended the good lawyers; either of them.
Are you a coffee drinker? hot coffee is hot. Many drink above 133 degrees. People like FRESH coffee, and many are en route to a job where they will drink it half an hour later. hundreds got scalded? Many thousands will swap coffee vendors if the coffee isn’t hot and fresh. They also know NOT to wedge the cup between the thighs!
><
There is a design flaw in coffee cups that are produced cheaply and are throw aways. The lid, if not fastened securely, will allow the cup to collapse. I have worn a couple cups for this reason, recently. I try to always bring my own no spill cup for this reason.
A lawyer is pretty useful when you need one.
From Co-Pilot AI:
Yes, in the infamous McDonald’s coffee spill case—Liebeck v. McDonald’s Restaurants—Stella Liebeck placed the cup of coffee between her legs while seated in a parked car. She was trying to add cream and sugar when the coffee spilled.
Yeah, as I recall, he was a popular guest on the news shows during the Clinton impeachment. The folksy manner came across well for a few times, then not so much.
As I wrote, she could have been severely burned whether she’d handled it that way or otherwise. The issue was the temperature of the coffee.
She would not have been burned if she had not improperly opened the cup. If the coffee iis too hot, you can wait for it to coold down. Early you claimed one could be scalded at 133 degrees. A well done hamburger is 160 degrees. Should places wait for the hamburgers to cool down with the coffee?
The case may have been decided the way it was because the coffee was hot. The public’s sensibilities were widely offended because jot coffee is supposed to be hot.
The ‘public’ was not on the jury.
Vaguely remember him commenting on Ruby Ridge, he was pretty good; after he became a legend, his pony broke out from under him
The jury was privy to all the evidence and facts; and the news stories that went all over the world did not include those.
We will have to agree to disagree about this.
