Allies of longtime former Senate Majority Leader and outgoing Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have been caught colluding in a nefarious plot to take down businessman Nate Morris, the U.S. Senate candidate most aligned with President Donald Trump, in next year’s GOP primary to replace McConnell.
There is a fierce multi-way primary going on to replace the retiring McConnell in Kentucky next year, and much to McConnell’s chagrin the race has turned into a referendum against his legacy. It’s so bad for McConnell that the Kentucky GOP, under serious pressure from Morris, abandoned a scheme this weekend to award McConnell the “lifetime achievement award” at its annual dinner headlined by emcee Scott Jennings and Sen. Jim Justice (R-WV) — instead just having McConnell give the award to a longtime activist.
“Morris took issue with McConnell’s presence even before the night began. In June, he criticized an invitation he received to the event that called on speakers to refrain from ‘speaking ill’ of Republicans who aren’t running for the Senate seat,” the Louisville Courier-Journal’s Lucas Aulbach reported from Lexington on Monday morning. “Morris at the time said he’d heard McConnell was set to receive a lifetime achievement award from the party at the dinner — that award was presented by McConnell to Cathy Bell, who’s held several roles with the state GOP over more than three decades.”
Morris has made criticism of McConnell’s strange anti-Trump behavior a centerpiece of his surprise bid for the U.S. Senate, catching McConnell allies and Morris rivals former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) off guard in a massive way.

McConnell is hated in Northern KY . . but he is feared.
Mitch is the KING of sabotage. He has done more harm to the GOP’s Senate efforts than the democrats. He is only interested in supporting candidates who pledge themselves to supporting his payola schemes.

Legacy? Everyone in Congress and the Senate watched this country roll down hill for decades. Open violent borders, 37 trillion in debt, wars costing many trillions where we win nothing but debt and death, people can't afford a home with two incomes, trade deals only our enemies love, wide spread government corruption in D.C., down through the local levels, and then government sponsored inflation where millions are taking a huge hit, food jumping 40 percent in 4 years, on and on.

I don’t know much about Nate Morris, but if Mitch is against - to me and my circle of family and friends that’s an endorsement for Morris!

I took a quick look at Barr as I don’t know much about him (only been KY resident for 4 years). FWIW He has the lowest partisan rating of any in the KY delegation ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky%27s_congressional_districts ).
I too voted for Cameron, but my understanding is that he is a McConnel protege’. Lee Watts of the Patriot Point (KY) youtube channel has had good things to say about Morris, but will support any R over any likely D.

Despite whatever else he may have done or not done, McConnell is totally deserving of this award for singlehandedly keeping Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court.

No worries. Maybe the Democrats will award Mitch a “lifetime achievement award” for all his decades-long help in fulfilling ‘their’ agenda and thwarting the GOP’s. That’s probably the only award that Mitch would value, anyway.
