Thomas Kolbe has written about the collapse of the German economy, something pretty shocking to those of us who remember when the German economy seemed unstoppable. What’s slammed the brakes on that juggernaut is central planning that revolves around the whole Green New Deal theory. Other European countries are doing the same. Spain and Portugal had a catastrophic power outage thanks to their green energy policies, and, in England, people are getting cold and dirty in a very 19th-century way because of the UK’s drive for “Net Zero.”
Had Kamala been elected last year, America would almost certainly have gone down that path, too. As it is, California’s Gavin Newsom is now begging the refineries that he closed to reopen.

And it’s not just Crazifornia. According to an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, the policies of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (a Democrat, of course) have been disastrous for residents of that state:
Despite flat electricity demand for the past two decades—and some of the lowest energy usage per capita among the 50 states—New Jersey residents pay some of the highest retail power prices in the country. As of April 2025, the Garden State ranked No. 12 in the nation, with prices more than 15% above the U.S. average. This gap has widened further in the wake of the recent decision by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to approve an additional 17% to 20% rate increase for most utility customers starting in June.
How in the world did that happen? Well, according to Paul H. Tice, who wrote the WSJ piece, the troubles began in 2017, when Murphy took office. Under his aegis, “New Jersey has shut down all its coal plants, reduced its natural...”

Get rid of the insane leaders
They are forcing everything to be electric, when natural gas is the cleanest and cheapest.
These are evil deluded people who care nothing about facts.
That cartoon is sung to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band. “Shake yo booty.”
Oh, this has nothing to do with delusion. Evil, yes. Delusionism, no. It's all about central planning with the prime objective being the controlling of the population. This is about totalitarianism being the ultimate goal, plain and simple.
“This is about totalitarianism being the ultimate goal, plain and simple.”
Absolute fact... And population reduction.
Germany also shuttered, shut down, TURNED OFF all of their electricity generated with nuclear power. France is building more nuclear plants. Smaller modular nuclear power is thought to be one of the ways to power AI.
I agree with you that communism underlies the “environmental” movement.
But I still think many of them at all levels are deluded and think that any fossil fuel is destroying the earth. They seem to believe electricity grows on trees.
In any event, it was unbelievable when they shut down natural gas and started mandating that homes be electric. The most impractical of all energy sources.
I was thinking “Cold as Ice” by Foreigner.
You’ll willing to sacrifice our heat.
The Dims used to say that too. That was Obama's mantra when his EPA forced a lot of utilities to shut down coal plants and replace them with power produced by "clean burning natural gas". That's what happened in my state (Alabama).
Then they changed their tune and started hating on natural gas as soon as Trump was in the WH. And later in Brandon's first week he issued multiple EO's making it harder to drill for natural gas. Which jacked up the price of natural gas and punished for using more natural gas, even though Obama's the one that forced us to.
Bull crap like that is why in 2021 I began the research and implementation of decentralized solar. Solar per se isn't better than coal or natural gas or gasoline. But solar is something I can do on my own to reduce how much energy I have to by on the over-regulated energy market. The word "decentralized" is what makes it very attractive to me.
But even so you still have to do your own homework to make sure it's practical (i.e. pay you back by saving you more than it costs you) based on your climate, your power consumption habits (i.e. are you home running appliances during the day or usually at night), and the real cost per kWh is added/removed to/from your power bill when you change how much power you pull from the meter.
For my area that comes down to 15 to 16 cents per kWh (after the fuel rate rider and state tax is added per kWh, but not including the flat monthly fees you pay no matter how much power you pull from the grid). The same is true if you don't want to go solar but are thinking about spending money to make your home more energy efficient like adding insulation or replacing a regular A/C unit with a variable speed heat pump (I did a bunch of stuff like that too).
They are forcing everything to be electric
And then they’re shutting down all the “base load” power plants.
being able to do basic math should be expected of a public office occupant.
none of the math works for public power on a large scale unless it is hydrocarbon or nuclear based
What did you expect from liberals, stupid is as stupid does.

Post WW2 New Jersey was an economic powerhouse.
"The crime is all the lies, and the motive is murder." That pleases satan very much, the father of lies.
Minnesota Governor, Tampon Tim Walz, is pushing the same green madness. Unfortunately Minnesota winters can be brutal and the not infrequent polar vortex events brings Arctic temperatures to large parts of the state. Already natural gas utilities have during these polar vortex events. asked residents to reduce the temperature in their homes to 58 degrees. Walz’s plan to be carbon neutral by 2030 could have many Minnesotans facing death by hypothermia.
“Comrade, this complaining can be easily fixed. If people simply obeyed and moved into our 15-minute cities they could stay warm and not have these problems.”
