New Romanian law may have averted NATO clash with Russia after border strikes

Russia narrowly avoided an armed skirmish with Romania, a member of the NATO alliance, after striking just a half mile from its border.

Romanian defense officials believe the new law passed by parliament explicitly allowing its armed forces to shoot down Russian drones that fly over its territory prevented the Kremlin from incurring on its territory.

Russia struck a gas distribution center in the Ismail Area of Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones on Tuesday and Wednesday, so close to Romania’s border that Bucharest deployed F-16 aircraft to monitor. No unauthorized intrusions were reported.

"They know we passed this law, and in the last two months they have avoided crossing into our airspace," one Romanian defense source told Fox News Digital.

The Romanians fought the Russians pretty hard at the Siege of Odessa. But, I guess that was a long time ago now.

“prevented the Kremlin from incurring on its territory.”

Yes, and that’s exactly Ukraine’s problem - they didn’t pass a law banning Russian air strikes on their territory!

So simple!

D’oh!

What a BS clickbait headline. Of course Romania was prepared to stop incursions into its airspace by a foreign adversary.

Unlike Pres. SloJo Poopypants.

Yes. At that time, the Romanians were good Nazi German allies. But a few years later they flipped, and became good Soviet Union allies.

You’ve got to give the Romanians credit for one thing. During WW2 they were pretty good at seeing which way the wind was currently blowing.

Although Ceasescu did break with the Soviets on their invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, which then made him the darling of the West. It was disgusting to see how he and Elena were feted on their visits to Western countries.

It may have done and on the other hand it may not have done.
The only interesting part of the report is that we now have it confirmed from independent sources that Russia is able successfully to reach and strike energy resources in Ukraine, with its drones, all the way to the border with Romania.
