It looks like Senate Republicans aren’t just talking tough on corruption—they’re laying the groundwork for real accountability, and Democrats like Sen. Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James may finally have reason to worry.
Sen. John Cornyn has introduced the Law Enforcement Tools to Interdict Troubling Investments in Abodes—or the LETITIA Act, pointedly named after the New York AG herself. But this isn’t just a symbolic jab. The bill represents a serious move to expand criminal liability and, more importantly, stiffen penalties for public officials who abuse their positions for personal gain—specifically through shady dealings like mortgage or tax fraud.
There’s no mistaking the intent behind this legislation. Letitia James is famous for her partisan pursuit of President Trump, yet she herself now entangled in a federal investigation over mortgage fraud. But the real intrigue emerges with the bill’s potential impact on Adam Schiff—the very same Schiff who for years cloaked himself in the language of integrity while leading partisan witch hunts against Trump and his allies. The tables may be turning.
Details in the public record are damning. Housing authority Bill Pulte has accused Schiff of falsifying bank documents and misrepresenting primary residences across multiple states to secure more favorable mortgage terms. These aren’t garden-variety clerical mistakes—they’re deliberate moves that, under Cornyn’s proposal, would be subject to mandatory prison terms. If signed into law, the LETITIA Act would slap public officials convicted of bank fraud, loan or mortgage fraud, or tax fraud with minimum sentences—one year for bank or loan fraud, six months for tax fraud—ratcheting up to five years for repeated patterns of abuse. No more tepid reprimands or backroom wrist-slaps for insiders who get caught.

If Cornyn thinks this is going to save his skin in Texas he is quite mistaken.
Lets hope the GOP doesn’t write it as a bill of attainder like the left tried.
100% unconstitutional
Fraud is already against the law. More excuses for not prosecuting these scumbags.
While Cornyn is pretending to be a Republican just in time for re-election season, Paxton is about to get more face time in the State chasing down and prosecuting runaway democrats derelict in their duties as representatives in the State House.
Ken Paxton remembers that ‘All Politics Are Local’ and he’s about to flood the airwaves over this redistricting plan. Cornyn apparently has forgotten this most valuable of political realities in his bid for an attention grabbing reason that we should want him to stay in DC.
Well, his dog won’t hunt this time and Leticia James is not from Texas.
EX POST FACTO.....
They have already broken existing laws. A new one isn’t needed.
A great idea if it could happen.
Well what is the hold up? Or this GOP fluff?
The cutesy acronyms for laws show the frivolousness of our legislators
BOOM! WE CAUGHT THEM ALL!! TRUST THE PLAN!
Not a single mid to high level "public official" will face any charges nor will any be prosecuted for this type of behavior. Whether Left or Right, most of our "public officials" abuse their positions for personal gain of one sort or another. It's just how parasites, sociopaths and psychopaths roll. This "legislation" is yet another attempt to gaslight the public into thinking that justice is coming for these pricks. At least in this world, it isn't.
Hey Lucy, grab your football! The rubes are ready to play again!
Agreed. These parasites think they’re real cute.
I PRAY FOR YOUR SUCCESS, JOHN!
Can we please stop with the acronyms for all these laws?
Wow Surrender Monkeys you’d better start screeching! This could be a serious blow to your mission to dampen Republican enthusiasm.

Whatever it takes to end our misery...after all, Capone (a vicious killer) could only be taken down with tax law.
NYS has something called the STAR Program which provides relief for school tax.
I wonder how many NYS pols and bureaucrats are cheating on their applications...
And not just NYS pols and bureaucrats now that I think about it...
LETITIA=CC…Cornyn Cosplay
