U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order increasing tariffs on Canadian goods that don't meet the terms of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement to 35 per cent.

You know eventually, it might be useful for us to get tariffs that didn’t change monthly. I like tariffs, I would just like us to pick one and settle on it.
Everyone took advantage of us and all of our Presidents were corrupted.
Until Donald Trump.
Why? So the other nation can work against it?
If only President Trump had you as an advisor, he would do things the right way.
I fully agree with tariffs. But I have heard countless rates and proposals in the last 3 months. I just want it to stabilize. And to be for trade based reasons... not to try to coerce India into supporting Kiev. Or to get Canada to support Tel Aviv.
I like a blanket tariff, and higher ones that gouge and cheat us, like Canada does.
Carney effed around. Now he is about to find out. FAFO.
Looks like I’m gonna have to get my maple syrup from Vermont then...
Just wait 30 minutes.
He’ll change his mind again.
p
In the NYC/NJ area there’s a variation to FAFO.
It goes: “Ya wanna play f around we’ll play f around and you’ll lose!’’
Frustration noted and legitimate. Unfortunately, every time Trump implements a policy, tariff or other, he gets huge pushback from the levers of power. The most obvious was his cave to agriculture and hospitality on immigration. The bull in a china shop approach causes chaos both on Main Street and Wall Street - not to mention the courts.
Having secured a deal with the EU, it’s time to put the hammer down on Canada and Mexico. I’d like economic stability as much as you, but only under conditions favorable to us. Of course, most Canada and Mexico trade is covered by the USMCA, so these Canada-Mexico tariffs on trade outside of USMCA are not as important as headlines suggest. I suspect this will all be settled within a few months. Hopefully in our favor. Then comes China.
There is a tariff and there is a trade agreement. It takes two to make a trade agreement. The tariff is a lever to cause a trade agreement. A permanent non consensual tariff is exactly what the economists claim will cause troubles. That is what you want? I’d prefer a trade agreement that includes a tariff or mutual tariffs as its components.
Are steel and cars jacked to 35% or are they covered by some other order?
You might both be right.
👍👍👍
Carney,s leftist Prime Minister is a flaming idiot. He wants “carbon neutral oil”, gas prices in Canada are through the roof, $5.60 per gallon, and now Carney wants to join with the NWO crowd and recognize Palestine as a state .
TRump has stated that if Canada rewards HAMAs for their Oct 7 genocide, there will be no trde deal with Canada, and he is right to do so.
Like I have said many times, Carney was elected through foul play, hoodwinked Canadians into a morass of patriotic foolishness, and now is well on his way to making Canada into a third world country. What Trump historically has called a shit hole. I call it Zimbabwe Kanuckistan.
Instead of Making Canada Great Again, Carney making Canada into a nation ruled by monopolistic economy, with protection paid by donations from Canadian business owners to the Liberal Party to keep foreign competition out. As a result Canadian consumers pay high prices on everything. A gallon of milk costs over 8 dollars. If they let in US Dairy products the price would be about 4 bucks a gallon, halfing it.
And on top of that Canada expects us to defend it. They spend all of their money on government programs and hand outs, and socialized medicine....none left for military spending, Canadas armed forces have a total of 100,000 individuals in service . and only bout 15 thousand are dedicated to combat, the rest are pencil pushers. And these twisted liberals like Carney sit their smugly thinking they are superior to Americans. WHAT A LAUGH.
Carney is a bastard. A leftist. And Trump will not give him an inch of mercy. Good Job president Trump!
I agree. The manufacturing companies we deal with aren’t expanding until this settles out. Enough already just settle on one and move on.
All of this increases the possibility that the western provinces will do their own thing.
But the Canadian wildfire smoke is free, maps of the fires appear to be up to 1/3 of the US. I’m hundreds of miles away and it is still hazy out as the air is filled with particles.
Maybe President Trump can throw another whopping tariff on the Canucks as they aren’t doing anything to slow it down.
