Sydney Sweeney's ad shows an unbridled cultural shift toward whiteness Advertisements are always mirrors of society, and sometimes what they reflect is ugly and startling.

This week, American Eagle, which brought us baby tees and low-rise denim in the aughts, debuted an advertisement campaign starring actor Sydney Sweeney. Sweeney, 27, is featured doing all sorts of Americana things in her American Eagle denim — like leaning over the hood of a white Mustang or lying on the floor holding a long-haired German shepherd puppy. At the end of each video, an off-screen voice speaks over blocky letters declaring that Sweeney — blonde, blue-eyed and white — “has great jeans.” The wordplay was made even more explicit when American Eagle posted a video of Sweeney standing in front of a poster bearing her likeness with the word “genes” crossed out and replaced with “jeans.”

The backlash has been swift and fierce, and some of it, at least, if you ask me, is fair. The internet has been quick to condemn the advertisement as noninclusive at best and as overtly promoting “white supremacy” and “Nazi propaganda” at worst.

How many years did we go before we saw a white person in a commercial

She says, per the script, her jeans are ‘blue’. Seems, if were looking past it being just a commercial, that dems are “blue”? Much doodoo about nothing. But, racis’!

I half expected this to be The Babylon Bee.

I’d say a conservative estimate would be 90% of commercials are black oriented......and it’s not rare to see ads with no White people at at.

Unless a person knew better, going by the racial makeup of TV commercials nowadays you’d think black people were the majority in this country not 13 to 15%.

Sydney Sweeney's ad shows an unbridled cultural shift toward whiteness AMERICANNESS REGARDLESS OF RACE.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

I believed it then, and I believe it now. The [string of expletives] Marxist decontructionists DON'T. GO TO GHANA; THEY'LL LOVE YOU.

These snowflakes clearly haven’t seen Jean Ads from the 1980s and early 90s.

I saw an ad last night for Tide Pods. It had a presumedly married white couple and 2 white kids. I was dumbfounded.

The dad was not what I would consider over masculine, but still....I was so surprised, I pointed it out to my wife..

I can’t find a picture of Hannah Holland. My guess is that she’s either:

(a) ugly and/or fat

(b) was goodlooking once but now is getting old and losing her looks

(c) a militant lesbian.

American Eagle has put out a statement:

With the recent backlash for our Good jeans ad with Sydney Sweeney, American Eagle promises to use the ad niggardly.

Wait until they see a commercial with a white married couple and 2 white children.

That should cause an epic melt down.
