Western arms makers are setting up in Ukraine. Kyiv gets firepower, NATO gets lessons in war.

Western arms makers aren't just sending weapons to Ukraine these days; they're moving in. As Russia's war drags on, NATO defense companies are opening offices, setting up new production lines, and working closely with Ukrainian partners inside the country at war.

For Ukraine, the payoff is that it gets faster, more customized firepower. For the West, it's access to something money can't usually buy: real-time lessons in modern warfare.

Ukraine's defense industry is offering hard-earned insights, and NATO countries are able to bring those secrets home before they need to use them themselves.

Talking with Business Insider, representatives of Ukraine's defense industry described Western defense companies working in Ukraine as a "win-win" because it helps them learn from the war and Ukraine's industry while also aiding Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion.

And Many European leaders have acknowledged that their own domestic industries have much that they can learn from Ukraine's booming defense sector.

Ihor Fedirko, the CEO of the Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry, an industry body that represents over 100 Ukrainian defense companies, said Western companies that open offices and produce in Ukraine gain experience "for our type of work." The war is a fast-moving conflict where new tech and innovations are substantially changing how wars are fought, with new developments in drone technology being among the most noticeable.

Western companies in Ukraine

Among the growing number of Western defense companies that have opened up facilities in Ukraine are the German drone and aerial intelligence company Quantum Systems, which said last month that it will double its production capacity in Ukraine, and KNDS, a French-German defense group opening a subsidiary there.

These companies are going to need good insurance.

As long as the war is going on, I would assume they will prime targets for Russian missiles.

You are against our side and hope the enemy destroys a lot of NATO weapon manufacturing capability?

You really want our enemy to prevail over the side we support?

If Russia is as all powerful as you claim, why haven’t they already taken it? I was told in February 2022 that it would take two weeks, at most, to take all of Ukraine, and Freepers told me by the end of March, Russia would occupy most of Germany. What happened?

NATO contractors are just fulfilling the updated US Ukraine Strategic Partnership signed November 10, 2021.
The agreement that gave Ukraine an unclear path to NATO membership and led to Russia’s invasion and SMO.

We’re wasting billions of dollars on two allies that made up the USSR.

Well you had a brain dead President nearly wiping out the US Arsenal is why as God forbid the US Military needed it. Saving
Ukraine is a futile gesture as Russia will grind them down over time just like they did the Germans. I personally think Patton was right about Russia.

Lol…They aren’t -my- enemy. And Ukraine is a nazi dominated dictatorship, and I have no allegiance to them. Not even slightly. I hope any NATO owned factories in Ukraine get an Orishnik or a hypersonic… and every Patriot missile launcher we send them gets hit with counter battery fire. And if my dreams came true, Z would get sniped with a Mosin Nagant M-91.

I’ve learned to become more discerning. Takes more than the marching orders from the DC/London axis to get me to jump on the bandwagon. I also didn’t support our Isis rebels, FSA, Al Nusra when we flew top cover for them in Syria.

London, Brussels and Berlin are the biggest threats to freedom in America.

What happened?

Russia ran out of missiles, tanks, and darn near everything in 2022. Their economy also collapsed. They have been fighting with shovels. Be patient. Russia is still winning.

I can’t believe you would be aligned with Lindsey Graham, Victoria Nuland, John Bolton, the entire Democrat party, Chuck Schumer, Obama, Burns, Brennan, Chrystia Freeland, Trudeau, AOC, Macron and his tranny wife, Merkel, Biden etc.

By the way, what is the NATO warrior? I never heard anyone in the US military described himself as a NATO warrior. You need to examine your loyalties a little more carefully.

If you think Russia was grinding against Germany and Japan, you are wrong.

And if you think 2025 Russia is anything like post-Stalingrad Russia you are way off the reservation. Once Russia pushed back, they kept moving, even with German soldiers being much more effective on a man-to-man basis. It wasn’t anything like what’s happened in the last 3 years.

And that braindead president did everything thing he could to help Russia, given the constraints he was operating under.
